Just checked Wrexhams' Wiki page, Wright is named on there as Asst. Man. (accuracy of Wikipedia is sketchy though).

I Think Steven Wright was Andy Davies assistant at the end of the season so will have not been updated.

Nothing against Dan Nolan but it’s a shame we haven’t got a completely new outsider in. It’s generally recognised now that the development system has become a basket case , so a fresh face and ideas would have been welcome.

Completely agree.

I’m sure Dan Nolan will have a good crack at it, but, he needs to go in with his eyes wide open and be willing to implement some very important changes.

Hopefully this will be led by the director in charge of that area, as ultimately he needs to be accountable for the success or failure of this aspect of our club.

I’d imagine there is a clear strategy of what the future holds, especially as now we have a new leader in this role.

In my opinion, we should decide what the COE is going to be. Either, a revenue stream for the football club, whereby we sell Our best players to the big boys or it becomes a clear pathway for the better players to the first team.

Good luck to Dan in his new role. I assume good news that he is an A licence coach.

I see this role as being long term and strategic so lets hope its the right appointment in many different ways. It would be nice to see regular updates from the club on numbers from the COE. Teams, players, players sold as we are all having opinions on the presumed sorry state when a bit of info and openness would help.

If the COE has to sell off the crown jewels to survive then fine but lets be open about it. Maybe a sponsor would come forward if they knew it would mean a better retention policy that their money would provide. Surely the COE warrants a WST sub-committee in its own right that would provide the reporting and also drive the strategy.

I'm pretty sure that strategy has been decided. It's clear that our board measure CoE success by player sales. I could understand this if it was a real money spinner, although I'd still be disappointed in it, but all it achieves is making the CoE cost neutral.

We've gone from Andy, Joey and Trish doing CoE Head, Youth team coach and part time admin to just one person doing all 3 so cost saving. We've gone from 3 UEFA pro coaches in the building to a new level A with limited experience. No ex pro's around (never under estimate to role Joey played just being around the place) of any note. I think their are big challenges ahead for Dan, he needs to build relationships with clubs that were held by other people to put together a decent games program, manage any fallout of a reduction in youth team games quality (the national league mentioned on the interview is way below current Alliance level) along with the change from the youth players being paid the grant money (which is around £3-4k per player from memory) to the club keeping that and the players getting nothing.

I wish him well but he has some major challenges ahead to steady the ship let alone start to turn it around again.

What a mess. I remember how excited I was to see the likes of Joey and Cliff Sear around the place 25 years ago. Quality ex pros with that certain awe about them. Oh well ......

This is why I was quite surprised we let Raven go. Defensive cover across the back 4 and as I understand it was assisting with the youth team last season so an ideal candidate for A or UEFA pro-licenses.

Seems to be no mention of the role Stephen Wright will play at the club - if any. The media team do a great job on match reporting and all the but the general comms and PR stuff is very poor.
