If he is keeping a role in the youth system wouldn't it be up to the head of youth to decide that?

I think their are big challenges ahead for Dan, he needs to build relationships with clubs that were held by other people to put together a decent games program, manage any fallout of a reduction in youth team games quality (the national league mentioned on the interview is way below current Alliance level) along with the change from the youth players being paid the grant money (which is around £3-4k per player from memory) to the club keeping that and the players getting nothing.

I wish him well but he has some major challenges ahead to steady the ship let alone start to turn it around again.
Indeed.

This was an opportunity for the club to show it's willing to turn a corner and start to grow our youth system again.

Good luck Dan; but I fear you'll be run into the ground.

Do not know him, but good luck to Dan.

it is the Board's responsibility to issue clear goals and allocate resources. It's up to Dan to implement them.

The Board should issue a comprehensive brief to him, and a brief overview to the fans. What do we want to achieve? And how?

Re 3/4k. Under the new system the club recieves no money at all. No grant money.

Wrong. Check the accounts and check the educational grant system for 16-18s

Check the accounts - there is a £40k (or similar line) for scholarship grants

Historically the lads got base payments topped up by the club - now they aren’t even getting those

So either the scheme has changed or the club aren’t paying it over to the scholars - whichever way is largely irrelevant - the point is the scholarship is now far less attractive and so it is harder to attract quality

Yes the scheme has changed!
You were referring to old LFE system. LFE booted non-league teams out. No grants now. To say the club is keeping the money is incorrect.
Guess you will edit you previous post to respect this?

The LSE was one scheme, there are other funding schemes related to football education.
For example Tranmere and Chester college schemes, The Robbie Fowler academy, the EVO/Morecombe scheme all get £4000 for each player in a full year of football and education (BTEC in sport type schemes). Hence the proliferation of these schemes as they can be quite profitable. If the funding from LFE (if it was that scheme relied on) has dried up from this coming season its not been widely notified to the fans.

You must have to be in the know to get the detail so if something has changed that the ordinary fan shouldn't be aware of then I retract the comment - but point still stands that any self expensed scholarship isn't likely to be an easy sell to quality players.
