It could have been Bob Scott. or John Lyons.

The ever smiling Fred Tomlinson led the club at board room level on that night.

Highlights of the match are shown from the 45 second mark.

Worthy of note - we also played the game in red shorts.

Can't believe it was 1976 - 42 years ago - feels like it was only a couple of weeks ago.
The ground had some atmosphere and the payers were all well known real characters and seemed to stay around for more than a season or two. Takes some believing looking back that there were 19,000 plus in the ground that night - when you look at it today.

It was Mickey Thomas. John Neal's tactic in European games was to play an extra midfielder in away games - Mickey Thomas, but then change to a more attack minded game for the home ties. This meant Brian Tinnion coming back on the right wing, I think!

Graham Whittle played instead of Mickey for the return leg at the Racecourse. Brian Tinnion played in all six European games that season.

I wonder if in 30 years we will be asking questions about our home game against boreham wood?

Sounds about right. I think I can remember being on the kop and being disappointed that Mickey wasn't playing that night, although nowadays my memory is most often clouded.
