And what footballing purpose did that serve us?

Nothing. Good earner but that’s about it.

I believe that this game will be held behind closed doors because you would have to be a nutjob to pay and go to watch a friendly against fgr!
Absolute disgrace of a friendly.

Seeing as we are surrending home friendlies to earn money,it would be a good opportunity to do both wouldn't it ? Play a game and earn some cash whilst keeping the fans happy.

We may have tried some of these teams and been told “Thanks but no thanks” after all why would they want to play lowly non-league mid-table Wrexham when they can probably get better calibre opposition? Whether we like it or not, we aren’t seen as a big draw in footballing terms anymore, neither for friendlies nor for competive games against teams higher up the pyramid. That’s a shit reality I know but I’m afraid that’s how it is.

Until we know for sure if a request was made there’s no point getting angry.

Notts County would have been a good one to go for. Picked up a lot of new support this season with them getting into the playoffs so would have brought a few to Wrexham. Hell i know some that would make the trip to the Racecourse just to rip the piss out of me at a footy match.

Not angry. Just questioning your view that playing a bigger team did us us no favours. I disagree.

The Forest Green game is a game too far. Having so many pre season matches, many of them dubious in their value, will severely stretch a small squad of 18 which includes two youth players, some young loanees and a “cheap as chips “ goalkeeper. It will probably lose money given the costs of staging it, so it baffles me as to why it exists.

We may as well leave it and get straight into a season, which I suspect realists amongst us will want to end almost as soon as it has started.

Good god!!

Firstly, 'big' teams with lots of fans will need stewarding, police costs etc. etc.and may discourage those with kids from bringing them along.
Secondly, premiership u23 squads do nothing for us pre season.
Lastly, like it or not, FGR are L2, get over it, a good test for us as the last pre season game.
