I'm sure the happy clappers will reason that all the teams are now full time, with millions invested in fitness programmes etc zzzz
That's because the vast majority ARE full time (I'm struggling to think which aren't anymore?), so calling it a pub league is the only thing that's zzzzzzzzz

Shame we couldn’t combine a role like this with the number 2 to save cash. Will be interesting to see what he brings

Exactly.

This appointment seems like an excellent step in the right direction looking at long-term planning, would be great to see a new emphasis on fitness.

Does this mean we won’t be having an assistant manager ?

Can't get excited about anything until I see who we bring in.

So, who exactly has he replaced ?
Fitness is important of that there is no doubt but going off many performances last season there were times when it looked like we never ever practiced shooting, taking corners or free kicks - some were truly woeful. Also regarding shooting nobody seemed to have the confidence to try a shot - none of our midfielders - we need a midfield that can get a share of the goals - there has to be a vast improvement than just defending - wasn't Wedgbury the scorer of a single goal all season ?

Getting back to fitness, Mal Purchase seemed to have the players well drilled and fit - lets hope we improve in many aspects of our play.

Can’t you get excited at the thought that whoever we bring in, they’ll show an improvement in fitness?
