Fitness is important of that there is no doubt but going off many performances last season there were times when it looked like we never ever practiced shooting, taking corners or free kicks - some were truly woeful. New players looking to join us will be happy to see that we are investing in this kind of role. I wouldn't imagine all clubs at our level do.

It can only benefit the individual and squad collective.

It's all well and good having a software package telling you player A is fatigued and should be rested...... When the squad is so small that it's impossible to leave him out.
A good physio would do all this. Must be on pence.

What are you basing any of that on?

Periodisation is essential if you have a small squad. How many soft tissue injuries were picked up last season? How many players injured muscles during training?

A physio is a reactive measure whilst the sports science element and periodisation are proactive. Two completely different skill sets.

And yes, people with degrees working towards a masters normally relocate from one end of the country to the other for pence as you put it.
