There is always a possibility but based on our form this calendar year and the players we have lost and the squad as it currently is there is nothing to suggest that we will be contenders for promotion nor that we will improve on our league position. Obviously I hope that I am wrong and that by the time the season starts we still have Pearson and manny at the club and we have made some quality signings who are not unproven youngsters on loan nor unfit players from lower leagues than ours.

This - I agree - says it all really. The fanbase needs a lift but so far there is nothing whatsoever to be optimistic about.
If things change and we get an influx of better quality players then opinions might differ but the numbers need to be significant and in the right positions. The retained list is too top heavy of average squad infillers who finished the league in 10th position. Yes the defence were good in as much they or the team conceded the least number of goals in the league but I put that down to the way the whole team set up and Wedgbury sitting so deep just before the central defenders - there was a massive inbalance between not conceding and not scoring either resulting in us being the top team for drawn borefests - so in a nutshell Ricketts needs to bring in as good if not better players and set them up to score goals.

Agreed my concern last season was midfield and we have lost wedgebury who provided good defensive cover and kelly. We have signed another midfielder but that still leaves the bulk of the substandard midfield left. We were not entertaining to watch last season like you said we were set up not to lose rather than 2 win and in a poor league we could only finish 10th.
