The problem for SR is that he has a problem in understanding that ensuring that the customers are kept informed of what is going on is paramount. The principal requirement of a good manager is the art of good communication. I have formed the opinion that SR lack of management experience illustrates his understanding of appropriate judgement in managing a football club. He would be well advised that any club is only as good as the support they get and making supporters feel that their interests are being considered is important. It has not been a good start in terms of communication but I wish SR every success in the coming season.

Can't win really. Previous managers, as well as the club, have got stick for over promising or for things leaking out.

When there is news, we'll hear about it, and that seems for the best.

I agree that communications to the fans is an important factor but the unquenchable desire for information, compounded by the desire of some fans to twist things and spread unfounded rumours concerns me more.

It would seem evident that SR and the club have been quietly getting on with the task of restocking the squad and management with quality newcomers. These individuals will be sought after by other teams, many of whom will have a bigger chequebook than ourselves. This will be made more complex by players and their agents not committing until they have achieved a satisfactory contract.

It’s all very frustrating if folk demand to know everything before it happens, and to have a full squad signed and booted. But why worry about something we have no control over, or is not critical until the 4th August? I think the internet doesn’t help but I also think some folk are indoctrinated by the 24 hour news concept and the notion that they own the club, and should therefore be involved in stuff.

Don’t get me wrong; I think it good that folk are very interested in our club. But relax and let SR do his job. Hopefully we’ll get some present surprises fairly soon. In the meantime, relax and don’t wish away this glorious summer weather.
