Default Jean Marc Bosman

Jean-Marc Bosman's actions led to the Bosman ruling via the EU courts. So when the UK leave the EU could we see a big change to UK footballers contacts? We do have a few legal eagles here who might just off er an opinion.
How would the change, if any. improve the lot of lower clubs like Wrexham?

Thought that myself.

Sadly I can't see it ever reverting to how it was though.

I read it has subsequently been incorporated into domestic and FIFA regs (and perhaps UEFA), so it is unlikely to change post-Brexit.

I read the big issue being discussed is work permits, currently needed for non-EU players only which the Premier League are wanting an exemption from applying to EU players post Brexit. And also some EU reg that allows U.K. clubs to sign under 18s (like Arsenal signing Fabregas at 16 from Barca) currently but could change post Brexit.

So Wrexham should probably close down their European youth scouting network soon...

There was never a problem in the UK. The tribunal system worked just fine here, sadly the Belgian system was a farce.

Looking back at Bosman, I don’t really understand why players didn’t have control once their contracts expired. Effectively, it’s a registration issue.

Even though a contract expired, clubs retained a player’s registration docs. How can that be right? It’s like being released by a club but staying put and being paid.
