I don't think that is really a good argument. We are going to be relying on him and he's barely played senior football and hasn't score a senior goal. Those points alone are a concern heading into this season. Looking very bare upfront.

Exactly. Pyke could do what Macauley Bonne did last year and we will all be singing his praises come end of April

this league - and player recruitment - is a lottery

Iíll be slightly annoyed if Pyke is expected to contribute say 10 goals this season. Itís unfair to expect that. If it happens; great but we need a more experienced player in such a key position.

For me though thatís an issue. At least with that lad that went to Hartlepool he has scoring ability. Pyke looks like he offers very little.

What money do we need for a top rate forward with style pace and experience?
Style, pace, experience and let's not forget young talent. Got to be looking at seven figures these days. Anyone have an idea what our budget is or has been?

Indeed he could; but hoping for Pyke and Fondop to both have break-out seasons is push our luck a little isn't it?

Rather than out and out budget, success for a club on the pitch is a mixture of factors. Of course, the random big name (previous achiever) would help ward off a potential lynching of the Manager on RP, but managing diversity is crucial. Is Sam up to it? Only time will tell. When Shinton was signed in the mid 70ís, I remember thinking that he just might be a Walsall/Cambridge misfit. Then, John Neal worked his magic, and Bobby became a star. Mind you, we never had social media and RP way back then. Shinton might just have been ďassassinatedĒ before he kicked a ball for us !
