Too early to say that. If Rutherford is first choice again this season then forget it. Good pro, works hard but just not good enough.

As a measure compare the likely current starting 11 against the 98 point team and see how many from this squad would make that team. For me it’s Manny and Pearson that would probably get in but that’s it.
Full backs no chance.
Whole midfield again no chance.
The front three are where it really hits home. Even an ageing Morrell could walk into this team. As would Pogba, Speight and Wright.

We are miles and miles off.
Happy to eat these words come next April.

Problem with SR is that he speaks well which in itself raises expectations. But he really needs to learn not to say he’s going for league quality and then goes and signs some young unknowns who are totally unproven and a massive gamble.
That’s the main reason fans on here are not amused. If you’re going to talk big back it up.
Last thing. It’s clear to me that a large chunk of our budget was spent on Manny and Pearson.

YOUNG striker Marcus Dinanga is yet to make a first team appearance but has now enjoyed two productive loan spells away from The Brewers.

First joining Matlock Town in 2017, the youngster netted 34 goals in all competitions for the Gladiators, who play in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division, while putting in some impressive performances for Albion's reserves.

Dinanga subsequently moved up a level and joined AFC Telford United on loan for 2017/18 and scored 25 goals for The Bucks.

An option on Dinanga's contract was taken up in the summer, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2019.

Dinanga sounds like yet another gamble a punt?

Is Simon Grand Pearsons replacement when he goes to Walsall or back to Grimsby? Just a guess him not playing yesterday or is he a CB who will happily sit on the bench? We do need competition and cover in central defence though.

Only got 10 games at Fylde last season and is 34 so looks like cover for Pearson/Smith.

Pearson and Dibble and a couple of others have been in Total Fitness last Friday + Monday light training getting over knocks it would seem.
