A 6 figure fee is being spoken about, I think he'll be off. It's odd that a manager specifically names players to cool speculation, usually they leave soon after when they do, saying such things publicly increases the price.

Pearson is the only character we've had since Glen , Westwood and Beast. We need these types of players. We must do everything to hold onto him. Extra 500 quid a week? Give it him.

Mackreth was persuaded to train with Wrexham pre season by Keates. This was pre planned to allow Pearson to slip away early against Lex so that they could meet at the services by Oswestry. Keates was disguised as a pirate and Pearson as a damsel in distress to avoid any allegations of illegal approaches.
Sound far fetched? Not half as much of the pre season "rumours" that have been peddled so far I would suggest.

Are you telling me Keates won't have Pearson's contact number? Very naive if you don't think he'd have called him considering the interest in him. It happens all the time in football, Wedgebury being a recent example for us.

Also a bid may have been accepted late Friday afternoon.

Of course he has his number. He won't have left a friendly to talk to Walsall. If he was in discussions he wouldn't have played or they would have taken place over the weekend.
