“It is the same all over the pitch, we are trying to get more or less two players in every position so everyone plays well, that is football. You can sign and not play because you’ve not been playing well, there are no guarantees for anyone, it is literally whoever plays the best.”

That doesn't really fit with an 18 man squad.
That might be the case if every player could only play in one position, but a squad of 18 would easily include players who could challenge to play in a number of positions, e.g. Carrington.

Indeed; but 18 players is not 'more or less' two players for each position.

20 could be with multi-position players but not 18.

I would hope that some cover could be provided by the younger players. One or two showed up quite well.

Talk on another thread a few weeks ago was that Wright has left.

Something about being told he had to put in a proper application for the assistant managers post which he apparently didn't like......so walked.
Pure speculation going off some other messages on here - but he's certainly nowhere to be seen either at Lex or Airbus yesterday.

I liked the look of the left sided centre back yesterday - blonde lad in the number 6 shirt - a bit of the Gareth Davies look about him - made a superb last ditch interception. Not forgetting that the youth team were up against a men's team some showed up really well - shame that they don't have their names on their shirts so we could identify who's who.

Looking at the official match report the player making the last ditch superb tackle was Ryan Williams - so was he the number 6 ?

That would suggest that the right sided centre back was number 5 Bobby Beaumont (son of Nigel) who had a good game at Lex last week.

Anyway, they looked a decent pairing in the heart of the defence.
