The central defenders are quality. Anyone who has been paying attention knows Young is quality. Im confident about Summerfield. Deverdics should be better than last year in a role that suits hisgame better. Holroyd showed some quality last year. We need to bring a bit more quality upfront. MFT looks interesting but he's still a young fairly inexperienced player.

It's all an unknown but on paper there is quality in the first xi

If Marje has signed then defences are going to be terrified. Go get em Marje

That’s a very accurate summary from what I have seen. You have just missed the goalkeepers.

I think with an experienced keeper , a reliable goal scorer and a back up centre half , we would be in with a very strong shout of the play offs. The problem is that every season since the pre WST 98 point season, we have fallen 2-3 quality players short .

Absolutely. I'm less bothered about the keeper. As long as Dibble isn't Andy Coughlinesque the defence should give him enough protection. We are a couple.of players short. And we will run the risk of being one or two key injuries away from disaster. A fully fit first eleven (with two quality additions say) is good enough to match anyone in this league. Who are the stand out teams? There aren't any. It'll be a surprise package again like last year. Why not us?

Sorry, I should have said it's true about our forwards, but like you say and I agree, its impossible to tell really, and to be honest there aren't many strikers I can think of who'll guarantee 20+ goals...well, there's Cook who's now in league 1! For me, the strikers who wouldn't be a 'punt' at the moment, although still a risk, would be : Danny Rowe, Michael Cheek and Dan Holman, based on goals scored at this level. There are always surprises every season so lets hope Pyke and MFT will be, but I'm still hopeful of one more quality frontman and a winger.

FWIW I think our defence, although a little low in cover, is strong and midfield looks quite exciting.

Danny Rowe is still under contract with Fylde until summer of 2019 - Tranmere reportedly interested but will have to make a substantial bid - a direct replacement for the departed Cook.

Matt Rhead is also courting interest since Lincoln City signed Akinde - however likely to stay put.

Cheek is a puzzle - Dagenham are reportedly in a financial mess and would take a bid - so why wont anyone else make a move for him - especially the likes of Barnet and perhaps Boreham Wood ?

Holman to me is too much of a gamble with his never ending list of injuries.

Ricketts I feel will make his moves next week and a striker at least should surely come in.

Apparently Fylde turned down 150k for Rowe today from Tranmere. I think Dagenham will just want Cheek off their wages so doubt it would take much of a fee to bring him here. And i don't think Holman would fit into our system playing as a lone striker.

I think with Cheek he is going to want to see what he can get down south before commiting somewhere up here.
