Yes, any other pre season when maybe there had already been some signings to deflect it there probably wouldn't be as much aggro.

With signings being thin on the ground for so long, pressure has built and a "low profile" signing will attract the flak.

But it should be directed at Ricketts if that's the case.

This - persionally I prefer to have not a big name; no previous to compare to and just as likely to be a flop - a la Boden.

I'll give the lad a chance - seems he was highly rated by Halifax fans who reading their forum had similar thoughts on him, as we did on Pogba.

Nope. Club never learns. We shouldn't be allowing the signing of relegated players. That's 2.

I must admit I know not alot about him based on my very brief google search. Doesnt have his own wiki but dinked the keeper on a youtube clip. Swings and roundabouts.

"Wrexham AFC is delighted to announce the signing of striker Mike Fondop-Talom on a two-year contract.

The 24-year-old forward put pen to paper this morning and became manager Sam Ricketts’ second signing of the summer period.

Mike began life in the Vanarama National League with Guiseley during October 2017 where he scored three times before making a loan switch to FC Halifax Town.

Joining the Shaymen in February this year he made twelve appearances and scored four times including memorable winners against Boreham Wood and Sutton United.

A native of Cameroon, the powerful frontman has gained a first class honours degree at Essex University in actuarial sciences, combining football with his studies since moving from capital city Yaoundé six years ago.

He’s crammed a lot of football in to those six years too. Prior to joining Guiseley he turned out for the likes of Whitehawk, Stanway Rovers, Billericay and Oxford City, where he scored eight goals in 27 games in 2016-17.

Manager Sam Ricketts spoke to the club website this morning and said: “Mike is a really good player. He is a real hot prospect we identified as a target really early on and I’ve been waiting to make a move for him since.

“We have beaten off lots of interest from others, including football league clubs, so I’m obviously delighted he has signed here at Wrexham.”
