Re: New signing at 5:30pm - goalkeeper Rob Lainton on loan from Port Vale
No idea what he's like but Sam and Jussi seem to know him and his ability. Got to trust their judgement.
As for the appearances total, sometimes you are just at a club with an established keeper or two ahead of you. It may be difficult to break into the first team in this case. Options are to sit it out and hope or go on loan. Plus if he has been injured he can't do either! He may just need that chance at a lower club to show what he can do. Willing to give him a chance though also happy for dibble to be number one. |

Re: New signing at 5:30pm - goalkeeper Rob Lainton on loan from Port Vale
Thing is the two keepers can now compete against each other for the starting shirt - they will surely get minutes in the pre season friendlies - judge for ourselves who looks the better prospect.
However I like to see a keeper in position for 10 games or so so he can build up some momentum and understanding with what will hopefully be a settled back four. By the season start Ricketts and coaching staff will be ready to make the decision as to who starts - but at least now we are in a position where a decision will have to be made. |

He'll be back up for Dibble

Not a huge signing, but it's always important to have more than one goalkeeper. Happy with Lainton as back-up to Dibble.
