He was absolute dog shit.

No worries, just come back again).

Does that fall into the same bracket as thinking that young players are good enough for what we need just because they come from a Prem/Championship club?

Pyke looks to have beefed up over the last year or two, which is no bad thing in this league. He may not have scored in his loans last year but it reads like he did well at the same time. If he's creating space or chances for others or holding the ball up to bring midfielders into the attack then the lack of goals personally is less concerning. Hopefully that's what he has been doing elsewhere but can start putting away a few himself too.

It's a misconception that managers just keep making. We've had flashes from a few but sustained quality from such a profile of player has been rare. And that doesn't mean they all have to be bracketed as useless; but the 18 year old from the Premier League is consistently getting breaks that the player of a similar age from our own ranks is not getting, and now not being held to the same standards if you compare multiple spells for Alfei/Massanka/Pyke to the in and out treatment of Marx/Harry/loads of others who don't even get a game at all.

George Miller? On loan last. Season? Loads rated him and didn't score a goal.. He was a threat and his movement and work created space for others. If he does the same and chips in then hell do.fine. Doubt he is the same quality but not seen much of pyke

George Miller returned to Bury and scored quite frequently until the end of last season - however he didn't score with us. Perhaps that falls into the same bracket as Massanka and Reid - are the individual players to blame or was it Keates overly defensive boring brand of football ?

Pyke has been getting rave reviews - did well at Colchester last season and has courted interest from both Watford & Everton - hopefully with him being here for a season we can bring the best out of him as opposed to last time where he wasn't here very long and didn't get much game time - as others have said he will have changed from boy to man, filled out and put on a bit of weight in the right places - we shouldn't be writing him off because of what he did with us last time under a different manager, different tactics and with less experience and game time under his belt.

Correct JND and he only started for us once with two sub appearances. I am sure we have plenty of strikers who have not scored in a similar amount of time...

Miller had plenty of shots on goal. Think in a couple of games the keepers pulled of some very good saves against him if I remember right. Now that was playing in Keates ultra defensive set up. Would like to see him back now if as it looks we are playing more expansive football.
