A lot more pleasant reading tonight. Some of the comments in the last few weeks have been ludicrous. As a previous poster said there are still some concerns to address but it’s not as bad as some making out. Just to highlight how silly the posts get, One poster stated that Sam had had his chance and blew it and should therefore be sacked’ and this all before the season had started. Madness!

If anyone thinks this has now addressed the problems then wow they have completely forgot the last 6 years of utter shite and 1 off performances.
Although a well done where its deserved has to be said - a draw a Maccy.

The right flank of the team was very good and dominant last night - first half Rutherford probably got half a dozen decent quality balls into the box.

More concerning was the left flank.

Holroyd spent a lot of time dropping deep - the combination play between Jennings, Young and Holroyd was not so effective - contrast that with some lovely interplay on the right flank between Roberts, the impressive Summerfield and Rutherford.

Wright was the deepest most defensive of the midfielders and had a decent game - far, far more accomplished than at centre half on Saturday at Telford.

I thought Tharme dropping into the back four alongside Manny looked very assured - he was up against Blissett who must be in the 6' 4 height bracket - Macclesfield had some good movement and big physical players up front including the sub who came on and got their goal - perhaps Ricketts is not too worried about centre back cover - if both Barnsley and Walsall were showing interest in Tharme then perhaps the concern for centre back cover is not to immediate - the lad did nothing wrong and looks a far better prospect than Olly Marx did 12 months ago - based on last nights showing.

Thanks for the reviews
I feel a bit more upbeat reading these
Sounds like with the players to come back and a couple of acquisitions , we may have a useful side

Can’t make Saturday, but bring on 7th - can’t wait

Tharme is a much better player than Marx and definitely worth keeping. I still don’t think he is ready yet though and we still need another centre back. Last season we were very lucky in terms of suspensions and injuries in that position.

Of course it won't be as bad as some doom merchants have made out because the pre-season games are not competitive games just experimentation and fitness that's why I've no interest in them. But on the other foot one game does not suddenly mean we are world beaters either Macc will benefit doing the same, the disturbing thing is we couldn't fill the subs bench even with youth, one swallow doesn't make a Summer.

It's not about the last 6 years, it's about the here & now. SDR can't do anything about what has gone on, it's been a hard slog for the Trust (Fans) to turn the club around. Things are starting to go in our favour, so we should be looking forward positively and any current concerns about the squad now can and will be addressed.

Agree. We are WIP. Folk need to understand this, and allow SDR and his team to reconfigure the squad and team AS THEY SEE FIT.

Folk may not agree with what they are doing - and are entitled to comment accordingly - but they are the professionals employed by the club to manage the football aspects.

All we can do is support them, and hope they get it right ASAP.

I might venture to the Racecourse on Saturday to take a look, but looking forward to the first game, even though I’ll just listen to it on the radio.
