RIP Mike Davies 09/11/36 - 12/7/18

I would just like to tell you a little about my dad who passed away on 12th July aged 81, and whos funeral will be held at Pentrebychan on Thursday 26th at 11.30.

A lot of you on here maybe even all of you won't have a clue who he was, he never contributed vast sums of money, was never a player and never directly worked at Wrexham. However he had followed the club from the early 1960's and by the early 70's he had become quite a succesful architect, so much so that when the original architects were either thrown off or went bust during construction of the Yale Stand and Marstons Stand it was my dads practice that stepped in to oversee the remaining works, this i know as a Wrexham fan was imensely important to him and he was hugely proud to have been involved with the club on a day to day basis speaking to directors and management regularly whilst giving the odd kick up the bum to a lazy builder or 2! I even once saw plans of a scheme he came up with for a new Mold Road Stand in 1979!! Obviously that never happened, he continued supporting the reds taking his 2 stepsons and eventually me when i came along (my first game was in 1992 aged 10 against Rochdale which we won!) his proud association continued introducing a further 2 generations to Wrexham AFC.
He continued to atend right up until last christmas when he became to frail to withstand the cold road stand. So after over 50 years supporting the reds i have to say goodbye tommorow and it will be very strange having an empty seat next to me next season.

Thank you for taking the time to read this as the club meant a hell of a lot to him through the great times of the 70's to the nightmare noughties he was always there. Anyone who wishes to would be more than welcome at the service or to the Centenary club afterwards to raise a glass.

thanks again

Mike Davies Jnr.
