He's landed the player he wanted despite league interest...is this a joke? More like, ricketts has signed a player from OUR own youth academy after he failed to get a deal from any other club!

Two of the first names on the teamsheet are Pearson and Manny - between them they didn't miss many games so what does Ricketts do ? Go out and sign an experienced centre back with the likely promise that 'you'll be a benchwarmer unless someone drops out'

Tharme had a very good game at Macc and he was up against last seasons National League Champions with Blissett and Co - he didn't look out of place and aquitted himself well.

He can be introduced gradually from the bench if we are comfortably leading in the closing stages of a game and there's the Trophy - but whose to know ? Pearson is out - it only takes a second for someone to end up injured or suspended.

Perhaps there is a bit of budgetary balancing by Ricketts too - we are never going to have the finances to put out a costly star studded squad of 16 for every fixture.

Shock horror Wrexham offer youth team member pro-contract and it’s accepted in week when club gets £1.25m from a former youth product...cue the usual end of the World disaster and hysteria!! Blimey Charlie!!

The lad has a future and he wanted to check the market before jumping - no-one with a brain on here can tell me that they wouldn’t have done the same even if it were just to understand what options were out there!!

Give the lad a break, give the manager a chance and be happy that we can cry ‘he’s one of our own’ again on a match day because it is where our heritage is from and won’t be that way in the future if things carry on the way they are regarding the academy set up! What’s infuriating is that it’s the same doom merchants crying that the previous ‘stars’ got sold before making a first team appearance whereas here we are with a young red trying to break into the first team and getting given grief around looking after himself and his future when it comes to being offered a contract.

We’ve needed cover for Manny and Captain Fantastic since the end of last season and now we have someone to fill the role..well done Sam!

Yes, there would be someone from a higher league that was out of favour that would drop down to regain fitness etc.

For what its worth I'm glad he is on board, but would be disappointed if keeping one of our own youth products was classed as a signing. Still hoping for two more to come in but expecting one
