One thing people are imploring is “external investment”. That’s not an unfair demand given that we’re continually being outspent by clubs with a fraction of our fan base but in this league, your fan base isn’t that important.

However, in the next few months, the club should be in the envious position of having investment by way of the Danny Ward money. Most are hopeful it won’t be less than £1m; maybe closer to £2m.

Those who are dubious of the Trust; this is the investment you’re asking for. What’s more, we don’t have to give any of the club away or go into debt to achieve such a windfall.

But what’s more concerning, reading posts on here, is the distrust in the Trust and its key members despite the undeniable fact they saved the club and put it on a steady footing. People have more faith in some mythical character with deep pockets than actual people who’ve done good for this club.

If the Ward money is what we hope, why not give the Trust a chance to spend it. If anything, it’s a watershed moment for fan-ownership. In say 3 years, if they balls it up, there’ll be growing support to sell the club.
This club needs to get out of this league within 2 years not another 11.

I agree, even the land around the stadium should be looked at also.

Personally i expect nothing from the club anymore it’s been years since Iv had optimism in our chances of success and that still hasn’t changed, i don’t think we will do a lot this season either.

Taylor money went to balance the books and gave us a profit in 16-17.

We are a loss making business and we need these boosts through player sales or cup runs to maintain our playing budget year after year. Otherwise it.would need to be slashed

Its as simple as that really. Whilst that Ward money is welcome its not going to go as far as some people think it will. Salford have seriously messed the league up this season with what they are paying. If they don't go up this season its going to cost us more to try and attract players who know we do have some cash the season after.
Out of interest, do you know what assets Salford had to attract the investment of Peter Lim and the class of 92?

Surely the board and WST should give Ricketts the money he thinks is needed to sign these quality players who he has obviously tried to sign but so far has been unsuccessful in doing. We are told that the board and WST are all fans so surely they want to see us promoted as do the majority of all the other fans.We cannot go another 11 seasons in this league can we.

That’s an interesting question.
However, I think the attraction there was more of a vanity project, in the short term at least, funded by some wealthy individuals with a tenuous link to the area.
The Club itself, in my opinion was not the attraction, rather the upside potential, given that the Club had never played at a higher level than the one they were at when the takeover took place. The fans had also never had their fingers burnt by rogues, unlike us, so were probably more accommodating.
As for Lim, I would guess that he sees it as little more than a vehicle to increase his UK profile.

Sadly we would only potentially have the likes of Robbie Savage and Mark Hughes to come on board, along with some other mystical Oriental type looking for a new hobby. Whoever he may be.

That's how it's always been how it is for most small clubs. Fabulously wealthy and totally altruistic owners are incredibly rare. For every Dale Vince there are a dozen Alex Hamiltons.
