Two of the goals we let in yesterday came from our right hand side.

Roberts overlaps but his passing and crossing are both very poor.

I thought Jennings had a decent enough game yesterday and I don't normally rate him.

I think he's pretty poor at either and pretty hopeless trying to do both. For me, the weakest link in the team.

I still don't understand why we let Raven go. He could play either full back position and was better than both Roberts and Jennings last season. I haven't seen any pre-season games so I cannot judge on performances to date.

I agree. He’s technically a better defender than both our current full-backs.
However both Roberts and Jennings have been a part of the defensive unit that did so well for us last year, so I’ll give credit for that.

Personally though I loathe Jennings - not just because of his poor quality defensively and his tendency to surrender possession far too easily but also because of his petulant attitude siimilar to his brother. Staggering to think Connor was captain at one point, he wasn’t in the same universe as Pearson in terms of leadership and example.

That back four would be excellent defensively. Let the midfield and forwards do the pretty stuff at the business end.

There are younger, fitter and better FBs in the NL North and league below.
We should be looking at the LB position come January.

Don’t disagree just pointing out that that back 4, based on current and/or previous players from last year is better defensively on paper than the current one in my opinion.

Carrington doesn't get forward. Hes poor in the air. Gets ripped a new one by the slightest bit of pace and cant tackle........besides that.

Once SR gets more confident in his recruitment,he'll back himself to get much better than Carrington. Its a shame the youth team isn't producing some more players. they should be squad fillers,not 31 year old never-will-bes.

I can't see Roberts or Jennings feeling any kind of threat from Carrington for their position. A young,hungry full back would certainly do that and we'd probably get 5-10% out of the current two.
It looks like the thought of him playing any role in midfield has finally been put to bed !
