Re: Like for Like 2018-19

For the avoidance of doubt.... A players "goals scored" includes penalty goals, the penalties scored is for information only. I included this because there were big discussions about whatsisname being a prolific scorer when most of his goals were from the penalty spot.

The error pointed out by Hamilton Pathetic was down to the fact that I failed to credit Beavon with his most recent goal. Incidentally, for all his critics, he is the leading scorer (along with Pearson and Walker) currently in the squad! :)

In my confusion I forgot to mention that the club have advised that Tollitt has had his loan period extended, and didn't notice this on your spreadsheet.

I only heard about it after posting the stats yesterday. Somebody mentioned on RP that it had been posted on twatter which I don't follow. For me, I will wait for something on the official website.

Apologies if this observation undermines the whole concept of the Like for Like, but for reasons I don’t fully understand, but I am sure you will explain, you have put Wrexham’s last game last season against Fylde played on 28 April 2018 in the middle of the January games. As a result Sutton away, not Halifax at home was game 34, and at that stage Wrexham had 58 points not 59.

My apologies - sort of :D

This aberration was introduced at the time the Bromley fixture was rearranged and, as I'm sure you will agree, a series of defeats was doing my head in. This same excuse, of course, is useful for your failing to find this blatant error at an earlier date.

Now, if you don't mind, I'll get on with preparing today's deliberate errors. :D

Another clean sheet and top of the league can't be bad. I like this false position attained by a team that some say is not good enough for automatic promotion

Incidentally, Maidstone and Braintree, even if they were good enough, cannot now get automatic promotion. We're into that part of the season!

Can't argue with 7 points from 9, all away from home over .only 8 days! Left it a bit late though, this afternoon.

Looking for a big crowd v Chesterfield with a team unbeaten in 5 with 13 points - not to mention the home appearance of a certain Mr Flynn. I will be there!

Re: Like for Like 2018-19

Great job you do keeping all this up to date.

There seems to be an error in the results for same number of games fixtures and results list for last season, the H A and the results seem to be out of alignment from Guisley on February 03 to the end of the season, it looks as if everything has been pushed down one row from that point on, except for the name of the team played.

Thanks for this, these notifications help to keep the stats accurate-ish. Looks like my correction to a previous error was in error - I'll get a lot of heat from Hamilton Pathetic tomorrow. I may have to reach my seat from the opposite end of the row to avoid him!!! :D

Our 20th win and I'd settle for 10 more of those!

Pearson and Walker now both on 9 Yellow Cards, with one game (Leyton) before the deadline to earn a 2 game ban.

Mathematics time! Aldershot and Havant joint list of clubs who cannot get automatic promotion. Today's victory ensures that we cannot be relegated :hurray:

I'm travelling most of tomorrow so any minor errors will be addressed on Monday. Major errors are, of course, actually minor errors being blown out of proportion :D

Thanks Draig. Who would have thought that with 10 matches to go with one more win we would surpass last season's points total? Also the fans have been amazing - 5 home games to go and we only need another 600 or so non-season ticket holders to attend to beat last year's attendance levels. Must mean a boost to next season's budget whatever league we are in. Next weekend's game is crucial - avoid defeat and I will start to believe this could be our year.

Ugly.

Condolences to the 4,000+ who endured that, I was trapped in Devon and so missed the debacle. Also tonight; Havant, Aldershot, Maidstone and Braintree slipped out of contention for a playoff spot.

So we can win in seriously nasty weather! If we can get 12 points from the remaining 21 available, we are guaranteed a playoff spot even if Gateshead win all their remaining games.

We smashed through the 100,000 attendance barrier, 2 games earlier than last season.

I missed this one but hope to be at Ebbsfleet and all remaining home games.

Penance duly paid!

Braintree were officially relegated, we were officially thrashed.

With 5 games to go last year we were lying 4th (just like this year) on 68 points. In the remaining 5 games we gathered a massive 2 points and plunged, rather spectacularly, to 10th. If there is a bright point, last year against the same opposition and venue as this year we gained 9 points and were unbeaten. That would keep us in the playoffs.

After last night's games, we slip to 5th. All teams have now played 42 games, so it is what it is.

We are now close enough to play the "if then" game!

If we win on Saturday and either Ebbsfleet fail to win at home to Dagenham or, Eastleigh lose at home to Gateshead, then we are guaranteed a playoff spot.

If Aldershot don't win at home to Hartlepool, they are relegated; they are also relegated if they win and Both Boreham Wood win (at Harrogate) and Dover win (at Barrow).

First objective achieved! Next secure a home quarter-final playoff game, then secure a home semi-final, then become Champions - maybe :)

Aldershot and Havant are relegated, joining Braintree and Maidstone - going to be some shuffling between North and South divisions.

Leyton, Salford, Solihull and ourselves are definitely in the playoffs, Fylde are virtually there by dint of their huge GD. Harrogate and Eastleigh look comfortable, but Ebbsfleet, Sutton and Gateshead are still hoping for miracles.

This makes Saturday's game interesting!

There is a real possibility that our last game will be a battle for the coveted 3rd place!!!

So what if we win all our remaining games?

Get your Boolean Logic textbooks out.

IF we win all 3 remaining games

We can be Champions -

IF Leyton lose 1 and draw 2 of their 3 remaining
AND Salford lose 1 and draw 1 of their 3 remaining
AND Solihull draw 2 of their 3 remaining

We can be 2nd or 3rd -

IF Leyton lose 1 and draw 2 of their 3 remaining
OR Salford lose 1 and draw 1 of their 3 remaining
OR Solihull draw 2 of their 3 remaining

We can ensure at least 1 home playoff -

IF we win 1 game or draw 3

The picture will be much clearer next Friday evening!

And so we have a fascinating final day!

Leyton are virtual Champions barring some pretty spectacular scores going against them; Salford and Solihull have home games in the playoff semi-finals but don't know who they might play; Fylde and Wrexham have home games in the playoff quarter-finals (or elimination round as VNL like to call it) but don't know who they will play; Eastleigh and Harrogate only know they have an away game in the playoff quarter-finals.

So, who will rest players next Saturday? Who will go for the win anyway? What would you do?

By the way, PPG has us 4th ahead of Fylde by 0.091 pts! :hurray:
