Under Construction

Updated. Construction completed. :hurray:

Glad to hear this. Just one small request. As we get older and the grey matter takes a little longer to process information, please don’t make it too complicated. Thanks for doing this anyway, your efforts are appreciated.

Re: Like for Like 2018-19

They are going to look much as last year apart, I hope, from the league position column(!).

I am looking at ways to simplify the information while still being able to see all the related stats on one page. If I come up with improvements, I will introduce them throughout the season. Suggestions for improvements (and error corrections) are always much appreciated.

Tomorrow, I will post the "starting position" which sees us in our usual 24th spot alphabetically. But this year we are rather far adrift, alphabetically, of 23rd place. :)

As one of the few who analyse the spreadsheets regularly (ask draigwrecsam) I was referring to the results not the stats themselves.

It's his cleverly disguised, sardonic wit - easy to miss. But he has his uses, usually the first to pick up on my errors deliberately introduced to make sure you're all paying attention. :D

Here is the starting position. Cup stats will only appear after Cup games. Any suggestions on improving readability (other than fudging our league position!) are welcomed.

Bloody hell we haven’t played a game yet and we are already bottom of the League. Sort it draigwrecsam!

Reverse alphabetical order is a suggestion.

P.s. if I was pedantic, Beavon should have a capital L for loan as the other loaners.

Capital L fixed already, in time for Saturday and, if you'd been a bit patient I'd have had Maguire-Drew in also!

I actually like us starting bottom, that way (hopefully) we leap up the table after the first game!

Who?

Anyway, at my age I haven't got time for patients, bloody clogging up the NHS.

A nice start!

Please note that the PPG and some other stats don't start to have value until we are a few games into the season.

Constructive criticism of layouts is appreciated, as is notification that my deliberate errors have been spotted.

We're at the right end of the table and only 45 more games to play!

I got these out fairly quickly, do not expect this to be a benchmark. As in previous years I will endeavour, but not guarantee, to publish updated stats within 24 hours of the final whistle!

Lets enjoy the season!

A bit of both! I abandoned the red/blue/green fill colours in favour of alternate row shading on account of a) it was a pain in the butt to do and b) I now have glaucoma and the row shading makes life easier for me. If it's a big problem, I can switch it back.

And, yes, it's all about me! :D

I've only given the stats a cursory glance but I notice that:

We are 7th according to you but 8th in the NLP and BBC, I'll give you that this is a minor point at this stage of the season.

I believe Deveredics was injured yesterday, not left out of the squad.

Can you explain to Andy Davies why, according to his managerial stats, he was in charge for 1 game, which he won, drew and lost twice.

I guess there are teething problems to iron out. Thank you for your prompt response, without you life could be very difficult - but liveable, just to reassure that I'm not totally dependent :D

OK, sorted.

At least the PPG had us 8th; the rest was down to haste because I'm actually very, very, not well and it's very, very hot and I'm sounding very, very like that orange man over the ocean - which is very, very bad.

I'm off for a very, very large hot toddy - see you Tuesday!

After Fylde (H) VNL - 07/08/2018 (0-0)

Feeling much better, and last nights game was heartening too. I suspect Maguire-Drew got MOM mainly because of his solo run just before half time. For me, it was Young with Wright pushing him very, very close. And right behind those two had to be Pearson who put Rowe into his pocket and buttoned it up.

Two clean sheets, four points and lots of goals pending!

Not clever enough, Mr d, I spotted your deliberate mistakes almost immediately.
Player Stats: Drew Drew, Barney McGrew is an Off not an On and Summerfield is an Off not a F.

P.S. I would have made Lainton MOM last night.

I'll have to make them more obscure at the weekend. :D

There were several great performances last night, including Lainton, but I thought Young had the edge.

After a shaky start it turned into a comfortable win. Seven points against 3 teams who were up there last year bodes well in my eyes. And it was nice to be top of the league for an hour or so - even nicer if we're there at the end of April.

I believe and so does the NLP that Bwood used all 3 subs, two came on at 78 minutes.

You’re not making it easy to find these errors but League Season to Date sheet shows our actual position as 5th. I know it’s difficult to believe but our actual position is top.........but you knew that anyway.

If you were being kind you could have said Roberts was out injured recovering from the stomach bug, but no, being the callous person you are you have reported him as being dropped. On your conscience be it.

P.S. JMD would probably like his two goals showing in the Vanarama League stats not just the overall competition stats.

Debatable. I read that all bug suffering players had recovered but, maybe you are right and he should not have been an x - I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. However, he's not listed today either so he's getting an x today!

I am fully aware that my stats are very influential in transfer negotiations and, if anyone comes for Roberts in January he might come looking for me! :hurray:

Back in those days, my stats were all in one big .txt file and very time consuming to update. Here's a synopsis:

There was also a cup run where we beat York, Cambridge and Brentford to meet Brighton away in the 3rd round where we earned a replay. 8,316 fans saw a thrilling game at The Racecourse which ended 1-1. With no further goals in extra time, it went to penalties where Brighton edged it 5-4.

Interesting stats.. eventual champions Fleetwood were 5 points behind at this early stage.
Last season, eventual winners, Macclesfield, only had 5 points from first 5 games and playoff winners, Tranmere, were not even in the running at Christmas!
Our 13 points is a welcome head start and we have a stronger squad and more experienced management behind them. Gates could be a good 50% higher than the 98 point season and we have the Danny Ward money to build a solid financial base.
Cautiously optimistic....
Two additional stats, if you have them would be to know, after the same number of games how many points (a) the current league leaders had and (b) the eventual champions had. If this was available week to week it would give a very clear indication of expectations. Keep up the amazing work!
