No you clearly haven’t played football manager then.

Remember that guy from Singapore (or was it Hong Kong?) we had? I always thought he looked a really good player just totally wrong for the league we were in at the time.
Daniel Bennet first signed for Wrexham in February 2002, with Denis Smith asking the fans to help pay for him. He was English but his family moved to Singapore when he was 2 years old, where his dad taught English. There were no immigration issues involved.

At the time he joined us, we were a second division side, but were relegated at the end of that season. He returned to Singapore, joining the Singapore Armed Forces team for 11 games in which they won the league title, following which he returned to Wrexham for 21 appearances. We offered him new terms at the end of that season, but he returned to Singapore instead in order to enhance his international career after becoming a naturalised Singapore citizen.

He certainly wasn't out of his depth with us, and went on to receive 141 caps for his adopted country by December 2017.

I know people have knocked this idea, but I applaud you for thinking outside the box. But unfortunately this is way too radical for our board. ...how did Sam, Edwards, and Lawrence do, not so bad if I remember rightly.

An Egyptian guy I work with asking about this. His son was looking to play in the UK. He gave me videos of his son playing to pass onto the club. But with the issue of work permits it was a non-starter. He's now been signed by Al Ahly.

It would be an easier option if we were higher in the leagues. As has been stated work permits would be the main issue.

Scouting wise there's still massive amounts we can do locally that we don't do at the moment.

Nothing wrong with this but it should also be noted that scouting has moved on greatly these days.
There is software out there used by all the major players that shows everything you'd need to know about players, stats, videos, reports etc etc. You put in what you need and it gives you options for that role.
Personally I think you'd use that to identify potential targets but undoubtedly it's the seeing and monitoring that's most useful. Along of course with the opinions of those who work with the target player.

Why use this thread to attack the board?

The Trinidad lads weren't scouted their agent approached the club via Joey Jones.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a though!

Cliff Sear was very good at Chester and then Wrexham.

John Neal and Brian Flynn were masters at getting a good scouting coverage.

Think Dixie poached Cliff Sear.

In theory the more eyes and ears listening out for Wrexham AFC the better, thats if those eyes and ears can make a real difference and there is money and logistics to actually bring those ideas to fruition.

I would always go to a plumber if I had a leak, but I wouldn't ignore the milkman if he told me my house was flooded.

Think you need the season to start mate you are cracking up
there is risk signing most players at this level..

It's an interesting idea and I think there is value in this but I believe we would need to go up a level..

Having watched some games over in the eastern block during my travels I can tell you there is some hidden talent that would do well..

As for getting homesick.. All due respect, most would be on the first flight over here.. Especially the younger lads with no family ...
