Think you need the season to start mate you are cracking up

I am surprised and disappointed with comments such as this, ( albeit there may be some insurmountable technical difficulties in this specific case, at least someone has put forward a suggestion that has been blatantly overlooked ), but in view of past experience in delivering a scouting network, I feel the Club has significantly underachieved. For example:-

Whatever happened to the 2014 - 1017 comprehensive plan of action setting out a strategy that included, quote. " Building scouting network across UK ". This initiative was to be monitored by a sub group accountable to the 'Wrexham Football Club Governing Body'. In turn, it was envisaged that :-

There was to be a review of progress regularly at Board Meetings
An update to members during the year via regular briefings
Provision of an Annual Report to members at AGM's of progress etc.

I have no recollection of anything significant being published or announced on this specific subject, which, according to many on this forum, is of fundamental importance. Perhaps this has been the cause of so much criticism of missing out on prospective players.

Before anyone suggests that this is another attempt to criticise the Board, on the contrary, I applaud them for their work to date but subjective to other matters. However, if you are going to provide such an in-depth plan incorporating this strategy, why has it been so shamefully overlooked? I suggest that it may be due to an overwhelming amount of work that cannot be sustained under a voluntary system, in other words, it may sound professional and efficient but in reality, unsustainable.

Not sure why you are linking my comments to your post. I didn't say i don't want us to Scout, I said taking huge risks on foreign players wasn't advisable

What led me to post was that I was surprised at your comment that the poster was 'cracking up', giving the impression that you were rather demeaning of his entire effort in at least trying to take up the issue. I accept that he was ill advised to suggest a foreign player, but at least he brought scouting to the fore.

I was also disappointed, in that your posts in the past have always been sensible and positive, regularly supporting a forward looking strategy to enhance the essential foundation of the Club, ( i.e. in particular the recent COE debate where I found your posts very positive ).

This issue is very similar, as both are fundamental issues that have not been addressed by the Club and the purpose of my prolonged ramblings was not to suggest you were averse to the scouting programme, but to emphasise the lack of progress by the Club given the initial comprehensive plan put forward at the outset and the lack of interest in the aftermath.

I think you hit the nail on the head there..... "Sensible and positive". Suggestions on the club Scouting locally are sensible and I totally agree with, risking budget on unknowns from far flung places with a totally different culture and football style to us is frankly bonkers.

Interesting you bring up the club Scouting promises though as I suspect sometimes these things get out out to appease the fans current gripes. At that current time everyone bemoaned not picking up talented players from leagues below and that email to members eased that moan. This year we moaned our budget wasn't big enough so an email came out about vague plans to reduce costs and increase budget. We are yet to here more detail on either

Default Re: Scouting

there are tales of football manager being used. for example, Alex McLeish was apparently told to sign a young player called Messi by one of his sons but decided against it

but at our level it would be a risk. i know in the past that players have sent in recommendations directly to the club but how far they have got i don't know.
