Wrexham AFC becoming Autism Friendly
A few helpful details to help our Autistic fans and their Families to enjoy their afternoon at Wrexham AFC Your Entrance is on Mold Road Side of the Stadium Parking is located alongside the fence closest to the ground of Glyndwr University chargeable at £3, this is then a short walk from the Mold Road Entrance, Stewards are on hand to help. You can purchase your tickets either on match days at the 1864 Suite Entrance again on Mold Road, which is clearly labelled and marked with a blue disabled sign, where you can also get your FREE carer ticket ( with your proof paperwork ie: PIP / DLA or Diagnosis Letter) or you can purchase tickets beforehand online. You then Enter via Gate 12, which is located at the double doors against the railings which is clearly marked again with a blue disabled sign, then as you enter straight opposite there is a concrete tunnel that leads you Straight out onto the front row of the stand. If you carefully walk the whole length of the front row, we have set aside a quieter area of the Mold Road Stand by the unused Kop for our Autistic Fans, to be able to enjoy their afternoon spent here at Wrexham AFC in a little bit more of a quiet area, if they so wish. We have disabled toilets close to hand from that area, and have also provided a quiet area, for parents / carers to use if they so wish. Just ask a steward to point out both these areas to you. We have a lovely lady Molly who will come and take any drink / food orders from you pitch side and will deliver them to you, taking the need to enter a very busy concourse to purchase things yourselves, away. Anybody who needs any further help or has questions they would like answering, please get in touch with Kerry Evans, our Disability Liaison Officer at Wrexham AFC on email : kerry.evans@wrexhamafc.wst.org.uk and she will be more than happy to help you further. |

Re: Wrexham AFC becoming Autism Friendly
Thats absolute quality, maybe we could purchase some Wrexham AFC ear defenders or sell some if they are required. Even RP sponsored ones. I love stuff like this as at major grounds that are always full it can be a daunting place for people on the spectrum. Massive well done to whoever thought of this.

Re: Wrexham AFC becoming Autism Friendly
This is fantastic news. I am so proud of Wrexham AFC for this.
I have been a fund raiser for the Els for Autism Foundation for a number of years. I know how misunderstood Autism is and the challenges faced by young people on the Spectrum. Well done and keep up the good work. You continue to amaze me with your commitment to opening up the club to those fans with disabilities of all kinds. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK !!!!

Re: Wrexham AFC becoming Autism Friendly
Great work from the club. As a father to my son who is 5 and has non verbal autism, its great to see so many places become more aware of the issues facing families with young ones who have autism. Something as simple as a day out to the football, something I enjoyed with my father, is for me a military operation just to take him out of the house.
I haven't been able to take him to watch my beloved club as I'm just not sure if it is for him. Unless they turn off the massive floodlights and play with some form of laser/light emitting football there's no chance of him sitting still for 90 minutes. Maybe in a couple of years I'll take him, he does like red though, which is a bonus. Last edited by woblob04; 6th August 2018 at 21.41:27.. |

Re: Wrexham AFC becoming Autism Friendly
Work in an Care Home for residents with Autism in town, its something that has been massively overlooked until recently at football games. Hopefully more clubs follow suit.
