?? Surely the reason for 2 year contracts is to ensure quality from 1 season to the next or at least try to.
Just imagine Sam having to replace the complete back 4 at the end of the season regardless of promotion or not.

For me a new deal or extension for these 2 is a must NOW.

It’s mostly down to Lainton as to why we haven’t conceded a goal.

Pearson made a couple of slice clearances but was tremendous in the air as always-Manny was pretty much faultless and easily the best defender we’ve had in the conference. It all depends whether they’re interested in negotiating new deals otherwise I suggest revisiting at Xmas time, there’s no huge rush at this stage especially if it means a potential increase in salary.

It doesn't pay for a promoted team to clear out most of the squad and start afresh in the league. The promoted teams that keep the core of the squad together benefit from it .

Always a dilemma for a manager of a club in pursuit of promotion - if you tie enough players up on long term contracts your stuck with the same personnel at a higher level.
Also the potential to rock the boat and cause discontent in the camp with some getting extensions and others not.
Perhaps a balancing act by Ricketts - Tranmere having gone up have still retained Steve Mcnulty who is still a regular starter for them - with many people writing him off.
Pearson & Smith as a long term double act would be difficult to replace and are young enough to still have some good years in them - I think Ricketts is no fool but in reality he's only just landed here - he will probably want to see how his newly acquired players perform over a number of games - the extensions may well follow but at the current time there doesn't appear to be any need for an urgent decision.

I think they would be good enough for L2 easily.

Seen the question asked about if they'd be good enough for L2, I think so, personally I don't think there's a huge step up between top NL sides and teams in L2. Think back to Tuesday where Pearson had Rowe in his back pocket all game, Rowe is easily L2 standard, and probably top end.
