Jennings 7 - solid, none of his usual brain farts, less of a threat going forward
SMITH 9 MOM - scored a good goal that set us on our way, always a threat at attacking set pieces and headed everything away at the back. Faultless
Pearson 7 - solid as usual, missed gilt edged header at 2-0
Summerfield 8 - created the first 2 via his set piece delivery and looks an all round midfield general. Like him a lot
Rutherford 8 - a revelation in the middle, like an annoying fly kept getting a foot in and broke up play as well as launching a few good attacks
Wright 8 - much more assured than last year, broke up play and got us on the front foot to counter attack and made some vital defensive headers late in the game
Pyke 6 - some good moments but quite sloppy in play, not as good as v Boreham wood
Fondop 7 - gets an extra mark for the goal, didn't really happen for him before that but still held the ball up well. Still tries to over play at times
JMD 6 - drifted in and out of the game, some exciting moments and drew a lot of fouls. He'll have better games

Subs

Holroyd 6 - thought he got a touch on the 3rd goal, otherwise tidy but peripheral
Beavon 6 - came on and harried very well
Deverdics 5 - we lost some of our intensity when injury forced Rutherford off. Deverdics is a tidy player and may work better at home v the lesser teams but he floated around stepping off his man and reluctant to tackle which affected our momentum and stopped us playing higher up the pitch or pressing. Think he's a last resort behind the 3 today and Young when fit

Agree with that. Very fair comments about deverdics. Some people are going OTT on the lad. But he's s different sort of player to Rutherford and it's harsh to be expecting him to do the same.

If you think that Fondop choosing to continue making sprints despite being clearly injured, risking further injury isn't worth knocking him down to a 4, I worry that you don't know what sport you're watching. It would have been lower if he hadn't have scored at the end.
What a load of bollocks

His hogging of the ball resulted in a brilliant 3rd goal today

He scored, your opinion is terrible. He had cramp, not an injury, do you really think given that we had a man advantage and a 2 goal advantage that Ricketts wouldn't have hooked him if he was injured??

First game of season for me and pretty much agree with the above. Defence solid, midfield won everything and forwards looked dangerous. Wright was brilliant picking up loose balls and stopping them playing. Fondop is a nuisance to any centre back. Never stops running, jumps for every ball and strong. Just to annoy a certain poster I would give him 10. Pyke was a disappointment and thought Beavon did more in the time he was on. Cant complain too much as we are top and looking good.

Ridiculous comment regarding Fondop.
Lainton 7- Nothing he could do for the goal. Did all that was required.
Carrington 7- Doesn't stop. Roberts must be worried.
Smith 9- Superb.
Pearson 8- Won most of his duels. Great again
Jennings 7- Good first half I felt, tailed off a little but solid.
Summerfield 8- Very impressed. 2 assists and just a general worker. Like him.
Rutherford 8- Fantastic 1st half I thought, some clever passes and good work rate as per.
Wright 7- Does what he does best and broke it up and got forward when needed.
Pyke 6- Wins the headers to be fair but still a lot to learn on the floor I feel. Gives it away cheap at times but still a decent option for us.
JMD 6- Few flashes of what he's capable of but I'm sure he'll know he can have better games. Big fan however. Type of player we've lacked.
Fondop 7- Didn't get into the game as much as he'd probably have liked but still got a goal and held it up well. Still feel there's a lot more to come from him too.
Holroyd 6- Decent enough.
Deverdics 5- Not good enough to start I'm afraid. Rutherford should and probably will be ahead of him in the pecking order.
Beavon 6- Knows what's required and did his job well.

No player ratings from me because I only listened to it online; but a 10 out of 10 for Sam Ricketts and Graham Barrow. As in all the games this season, they change up the game when needed and make substitutes early rather than late to manage the game. OK, maybe one of the subs was just a little too late today but they successfully came through a big test today which would have unravelled us in the last few years

I'm not trying to put the team down here or anything, today was a convincing win, everyone worked hard and the win was very much deserved against a decent side. Just want other teams to look at us with a mix of admiration and envy, not look at us with pity like you might look at Salford or Billericay...
... and having fans who can't get easily checkable facts right (booking at Maidenhead?) whilst taking a ridiculous swipe at one of our players will help with that, will it?
