Eastleigh ratings

Lainton 7 - no chance with the goal, rarely troubled otherwise but looked assured and looked much better claiming crosses except 1 that he spilled
Carrington 7 - didn't stop working, very tidy and unusually offered a bit of attacking threat as well as being strong defensively
Jennings 7 - solid, none of his usual brain farts, less of a threat going forward
SMITH 9 MOM - scored a good goal that set us on our way, always a threat at attacking set pieces and headed everything away at the back. Faultless
Pearson 7 - solid as usual, missed gilt edged header at 2-0
Summerfield 8 - created the first 2 via his set piece delivery and looks an all round midfield general. Like him a lot
Rutherford 8 - a revelation in the middle, like an annoying fly kept getting a foot in and broke up play as well as launching a few good attacks
Wright 8 - much more assured than last year, broke up play and got us on the front foot to counter attack and made some vital defensive headers late in the game
Pyke 6 - some good moments but quite sloppy in play, not as good as v Boreham wood
Fondop 7 - gets an extra mark for the goal, didn't really happen for him before that but still held the ball up well. Still tries to over play at times
JMD 6 - drifted in and out of the game, some exciting moments and drew a lot of fouls. He'll have better games

Subs

Holroyd 6 - thought he got a touch on the 3rd goal, otherwise tidy but peripheral
Beavon 6 - came on and harried very well
Deverdics 5 - we lost some of our intensity when injury forced Rutherford off. Deverdics is a tidy player and may work better at home v the lesser teams but he floated around stepping off his man and reluctant to tackle which affected our momentum and stopped us playing higher up the pitch or pressing. Think he's a last resort behind the 3 today and Young when fit

Agree with all of the above, but I would give JM-D a 7 also for his superb runs, strength on the ball, and that free kick!

Re: Eastleigh ratings

Lainton 6 - Mostly solid, but a slip early and conceding is never good.

Carra 8 - Fantastic game for him, he controlled the right flank well and could always play himself out of any danger.
Pearson 7 - Won just about everything, fairly solid. The defense can't be blamed for the goal conceded.
Manny 9 - Manny of the match, no doubt. Fantastic game, scored one, forced the own goal AND was solid at the back.
Jennings 7 - Did his job, nothing special, no mess ups.

Summerfield 8 - his deliveries into the box were fantastic, and he carried the ball between defense and attack effectively.
Rutherford 8 - revelation at CAM, controlled the play and added some structure to an at times chaotic attack.
Wright 7 - he was good, but didn't really contribute anything of note.

JMD 5 - Overplayed a lot, and sure he came close to goal a few times, but it doesn't really matter if its off target... Really seemed disinterested after we conceded.
Fondop 4 - I'm beginning to really dislike the guy. He's a great goalscorer, but god he's a knob. Him having the personality of Richard Brodie can only be covered so much by his talent as an attacker. Selfish, ego-fuelled and will probably cause some dissonance in the squad over time.
Pyke 8 - Shining light up front, solid performance, won the ball effectively, lots of pace and played his role in the attack very well generally.

Holroyd 7 - Saved the game, reignited the team after conceding where it was beginning to look like we might lose.
Deverdics 4 - Ultimately to blame for the goal conceded. He came on and seemed lost, giving Eastleigh temporary control of the game, which they capitalised on.
Beavons 7 - Didn't get a lot of time on the pitch, but his touch was fantastic, he made the most of scraps and turned defense into attack effectively.

Not a bad performance, but definitely a lot to think about for Sam Ricketts.

Not how he comes across to me in interviews etc. Arrogance (on the pitch) isn't a bad trait to have as a centre forward.

Getting booked every time you score, holding the ball and demanding to take a free kick, and hogging the ball even when teammates are in a much better position are all bad traits for any footballer. Sure Cristiano Ronaldo might want it to always be the Ronaldo show, but even he doesn't celebrate twice every time he scores...
