Love it that pretty well sums up Keates management here,, but thankfully he is history now and we move on to the present day and entertaining football.

Grateful for 4 pages of replies but disappointed with no particular answer to the question. I did say 'just a thought' but ..............I just thought it was a fair question. /

I had thought of Darlington as an attack minded coach who was overridden by Keates' defensive strategy. We may be seeing evidence of this under SR.

"Do not lose" actually did work for most of last season in that we maintained a playoff spot up to the point he left. We then tried a more attacking approach without the players to carry it out - and we plummeted. Had he stayed, would our defensive play have kept us in the playoffs? We'll never know.

Are coaches as individuals strictly either attack minded or defensively minded? Surely they mostly work to whatever the manager instructs them and are adept at coaching whatever system is required (or not as some of our previous assistants might prove).

Surely a coach's system depends entirely upon the strengths and weaknesses of his squad.

He's a cock for what he did and said here, however, he did a lot of good here which is continuing to pay dividends now amd for that he deserves credit.

Do I hope he falls flat on his arse there? I'm a tribal football fan, you bet I do.
