Music can really make a difference in the atmosphere of a ground, it shouldn't be under estimated.
Yma o Hyd whilst is fine at the appropriate time, it really should not be played pre match, it really does dampen the atmosphere and god knows what the away fans must think. The old favourite Dakota by the phonics always gets the place going, why not just stick to that or just another up tempo song.
As for after the match, likewise Gareth Owen is clearly very talented and his song is very good but again at the appropriate time. Playing that song after a win brings a dower feel to the place, when something really up beat should be played to help us on our way with a smile on our faces. Last Saturday following our disappointing 2-2 draw, which felt like a loss, that song just made me feel worse...so depressing! In times like that again an up beat tune is needed to lift people's spirits.
Please Media team can you sort it out, as I say music should not be under estimated, it really is part of the match day experience.

I’ve been over to Germany a few times to watch FC St Pauli. They play ‘Hells Bells’ by AC/DC just before kick off each match. It really sets the tone and atmosphere.

There’s no way that Red Light or Wuthering Heights sets any type of atmosphere suitable for a football match (and it’s not a question of taste - I’d probably rather listen to those two songs than AC/DC, but not just before kick off!)

If they had a tannoy at Solihull they could off played a funeral March 1500 away fans and even before a ball was kicked the atmosphere was like a library no 12th man yesterday.

I always enjoy "Das herz von Sankt Pauli" just before Hells Bells starts. Although unique to St. Pauli it gets everyone singing and sets the atmosphere ready for Hells Bells.

So that's decided then.

After the match.

If we win it's 'Happiness' by Ken Dodd.

If we lose 'Tears for Souveniers' by Ken Dodd.

Pre match I used to like 'Always look on the bright side of life' - Monty Python.
Was played under the reign of Brian Flynn.

Yes, you’re right. It’s fantastic. The whole ground really does sing it together.

I agree , although Thunderstruck or Shoot to Thrill might be better for openers .

I like Yma O had and the words of Gareth Owens song, but there is a time and place for everything. Music does play a part in getting the players and crowd in the mood. I can remember going to the racecourse in the 50's, they must of only had one record because every week you heard Sousa's marches. Classics like Stars and Stripes Forever and Liberty Bell (better known now as Here we go, Here we go, Here we go; and the theme music from Monty Python).

IMHO the football squad should pick the song that fires them up the most, at least they would be up for it from the first minute.
