Sam - back to basics
Throw ins - why are we unable to make progress down the line and gain some ground into the opposition half? Its Sunday league stuff that is basically lacking. Communication - where was the talking and leadership yesterday? They were far more vocal than us and they all knew their roles. We were 11 lost souls all over the pitch. Formation - if its a 433 then 1 of the front players has to offer some width and provide a supply to MFT. Pike and Holroyd were out of position time after time and both their full backs had space to run at us all game. Football triangles - wonder if any of the players realise that playing together and passing in these so called 'triangles' and getting the ball down is how the game should be played. Playing it back for defenders to hoof forward is not how we want to see the game played. The midfield 3 have been very poor with ball retention so far and it's because they are all over the place rather than playing as a midfield 3. Leadership - if 1 player is having a tough time then others have to step up to the plate. Yesterday we saw everyone apart from Carra and Pearson completely shirk any responsibility of leadership on the pitch. Basically 1 player has on off-day and they all joined in. Sam - where is your midfield general? All teams have them at this level and we don't have anyone that is capable of putting their foot on the ball and getting a passing game going. Summerfield has been a big disappointment and very hit and miss, Akils passing is woeful and Young seems a lost soul at times despite his experience at this level. Its obviously early days but the manner of capitulation yesterday was embarrassing for a team top of the league. Where was the confidence & swagger, where were the players wanting to stake a claim for a shirt. Dramatic improvement needed for the next 2 home games. Red mist finally clearing Last edited by pagl; 28th August 2018 at 08.43:34.. |

Re: Sam - back to basics
What a difference 4 days makes.
I predicted 1-1 against Bromley and someone said I was being negative. However, we’ve played well in phases in games and had some decent luck. A loss isn’t the end of the world if you learn from it |

Re: Sam - back to basics
as soon as someone mentions the word tired, 2 games in 3 days, its like its an escape clause an immediate excuse for people to ease off and not put 100% in,well if we wernt so tired it would have been different, wrong attitude it should be 2 games in 3 days gives us 6pts, puts us well clear, we have 4 days off after come on lads lets put it in,for all them fans who pay good money and travel in the droves, TIRED!!!

Re: Sam - back to basics
I always think about the basics - its the same for any job and profession. If you cannot do the basics then there is a problem. It can be applied across the board, Chef, IT, Joiner, Sportsman....etc.
I saw problems with real basics yesterday and I will make the following calls. Burgess will be a flop as will Deverdics. Holroyd has lost his way and will leave in Jan. Sam will need a midfield general as 1 of the Wright, Summerfield, Young trio will need to make way. Signing 6 season long loans will prove to be a millstone with none of them providing any real consistency. Sam will need to improve the starting 11 in January otherwise we will drop off the pace once again. Realistic not pessimistic. |

Re: Sam - back to basics
Can’t disagree with some of pagl’s observations
But We’ve done ok so far He’s been concentrating on a Saturday and mid week since the season kicked off It’s almost a complete new midfield and forward line Changing personnel due to injury’s Hopefully during training he can iron out a few of the ‘basics’ and get us back on track It least we now have the players with the ability , it’s just getting a style of play that we can play to Of course it’s disappointing to lose , but I’m hopeful, and believe that we have the backroom staff and players to make us a force Back to back home games next Get focused and look for 4+ points |

We should be looking to getting 6 points at home not 4+ out of 3 home games we have drawn 2 and won 1 not good enough if we want promotion the Racecourse has to become a fortress. Posted via mobile theme |
