Training Regime and Tactics
As I see it we were tactically outplayed. Their strategy was to slow the game down and to stop us getting any momentum. Our response was (mostly) to hoof balls up in the air when they had aerial dominance. We were also generally lethargic. (There were also signs of this being a problem at last week towards the end of the game against Bromley) Manny's injury seemed to create nervousness in the team - understandable given his role and performances so far this year - although to be fair Tharme did well. Given our lethargy and the increasing numbers of injuries so far, it begs the question whether the training regime is quite right and whether the tactical instructions were inappropriate. If so, you can't blame the players. |

Re: Training Regime and Tactics
Manny was the only player who could compete and beat Solihull's Daly (5) in the air as demonstrated in clearing the ball with his head before landing awkwardly and injuring himself. Perhaps if we hadn't lost him so early things could have been different.
Yet we have had a high number of team disruption and changes not only to personnel but also formation - did we actually revert to 4 - 3 - 3 yesterday ? I think we missed Jennings ability to attack down the flank but I also believe Rutherford's high energy has been missed. Deverdics and Beavon came in on Saturday then are completely left out two days later - whatever people think having a settled team has got to be a bonus. |

Re: Training Regime and Tactics
It was a terrible loss, but we weren't going to win and draw every game. These things happen. What matters most is how we bounce back.
It was disappointing for the fans who went, but considering how well we started it's a bit mad to start thinking our training regime is poor over one bad day at the office. We all knew from early on this was a work in progress, the first five games had promising moments but equally highlighted areas we had to work on. Give it time. |

Re: Training Regime and Tactics
I've seen Ricketts and Pearson's interviews and it seems that the way Solihull set up and played/time wasted/ensured there was no flow to the game had no little impact on the result. Sometimes we need to accept the opposition have played a blinder.

Re: Training Regime and Tactics
We probably have the best management team and support staff that we have had for the last ten years.
Where fitness levels and tactics are assessed game by game and below par performers are dropped. Basically what most people have been crying out for for the last ten years!

Re: Training Regime and Tactics
Unless you’ve been to watch training sessions, I find it quite incredulous that people can criticise the sessions and coaching staff.
I’m not sure why there needs to be a bloody inquest every time we lose a game. |
