I much prefer 4-3-3 and instructing both Wright and Young to sit, but move out wide to protect the full-backs would hopefully be as good expecting wingers to come back. I would allow Rutherford to do the carrying to attack, and Fondop and Holroyd to bang the goals in.

The more attacking approach means a more fluid midfield, and means game time for more potential match winners (JMD, Hinds, Deverdics, Summerfield?). I'm struggling to trust them to get us over the line so far.

Stats say we’ve conceded 4 goals in 7 games with only Fylde conceding fewer and Ebbsfleet the same so far this season which suggests our defensive shape is better than most in our division. The more attacking approach is refreshing and enjoyable to watch leading to us gaining 14 points out of 21, only bettered be Halifax so far. I believe we can improve as a team from what we’ve witnessed so far this season but stats, as they currently stand, suggest we’re getting the balance right. As for your tactical vision, if your two central midfielders pushed out to help the full backs then surely the opposition manager would exploit the hole that’s been left through the centre of the field.

If you would have told me in June or July Wrexham would be 2nd by a point at the end of August I'd have took it gladly.

It's been a much better start than most predicted. It's not like we're 2nd from bottom.

Questioning tactics only occurs when we lose because they are not working. If we are winning then they are working, so wouldn't be discussed.

I think Alan’s pointing out it’s strange that people rarely post saying how good our tactics are in games when they’re successful.

Do you only need to talk tactics when you’ve lost? Seems unfair on the coaches, manager and players!

It's worth discussion in a critical way in victory too. To have conceded once in the first five games was great but there was a lot of luck involved, and you shouldn't need to wait for goals to be shipped to point this out. Anyone could have had a field day with the early days of Mills too, which were nailed on to be picked apart once good teams came to Wrexham, but very few would be so bold until the rot set in.
