Re Dixie McNiel …...For most of us his most famous FA Cup moment was scoring v Blyth in the famous cup replay.
Never realised he played and scored in the famous Northampton v Man utd game when Utd won 8-2 and George Best scored 6 goals.

Jonny Hunt's penalty hitting the back of the net to win a final at Wembley infront of 36,000 - 'our finest hour ?'

And although we lost eventually - Carrington's goal infront of 6,000 of us at Stoke to give us the lead at a Premiership club in their own back yard was special.

Not forgetting a certain free kick by one Michael Reginald Thomas.

Here's the match from 1970 - a legendary match remembered for the scoring exploits of George Best who I think was the best player of his generation.

Dixie wins a penalty in this clip which was missed and scorers the first Northampton goal.

Commentary by another legend - the late Huw Johns.

If not previously read, I recommend Dixie's autobiography which is a good read. Got mine personally autographed at the launch in the centenary club - they were in the club shop - not sure if there are any there now - failing that - Waterstones.
