It's a position that once again this season is our weakest link the lack of a good centre forward, Fondup is running around like a headless chicken at times he needs to work on his close control and a few other aspects of his game, to be fair Ricketts said when he signed that he was raw and that's the problem the only experienced striker we have is Beavon who as I said reminds me of Omerod a footballing brain, puts a shift in but like him don't expect to many goals.

This playing to deep with an isolated Fondup upfront is to negative at home, or away but at home we need to be more of an attacking threat no pace in the side Pyke has it but I'm not sure he is being used right & he tires after 45 mins.

When Fondup does get the ball or flicks it on nobody is near him the midfield is ineffective Summerfield apart, for a lone striker Fondup is not good at holding the ball up for the likes of Pyke who is playing to deep. A work in progress but a couple of defeats on the bounce and we would drop down the table like a stone, look at the goals the undefeated Harrogate are scoring, we have to start winning our home games drawing is like last season not good enough.

Sorry Sam you can slap my wrists for my opinion but managers have to take the criticism as well as the plaudits.

All this criticism of Fondop is ridiculous.
He is a young striker with massive potential, big , quick and can score goals. We all knew that we would need patience with him as he settles into full time football. The fact that he has had a great start through pre season and the beginning of the season has probably raised supporters expectations.

Agreed though that we need a similar forward as competition/ replacement. I would sacrifice Deverdics and Hinds (If he’s never going to play) , to get another forward in.

It’s a must if we are serious about competing. Fondop is decent now and has an eye for goal and has potential but he’ll need a rest, will probably be injured at some point and also needs competition to push him.

I’m surprised SR hasn’t sorted this earlier.

Let’s not kid ourselves by suggesting Holroyd is that player either.
Of the current squad Pyke seems best suited and for most of the game last night I thought he was excellent just for sheer effort and determination.

This is his first year as a full-time pro; which is not to be underestimated.

He's strong, quick, decent in the air and can score goals. He's already more useful than someone like Rhead but he can't do it all alone. He's often so isolated and trying to fight-off both CBs on his own. IMO Ricketts is expecting too much of him at the moment and by extension us. It's crystal clear we have no appropriate back-up in this position.

I think Fondkp will become a valuable asset in the medium term. Fondop and Quigley together doesn,t work for me in that mentally they're too similar.

Thinking Quigley is any sort of target man or striker to play-off isn't right either, he's not that sort of player at all.

Fondop is a work in progress. When he’s fit I think Hinds will offer us something different with his pace.

I think there is a way to get the best out of our current strikers but if Ricketts insists on rotation for reasons of fitness then it won't work.

Fondop is our best centre forward and if we're playing a three then I'd play Pike and Holroyd, both clever, both can score, both good in the air. It's a strikefore lacking a little in flair but it leaves is with a flair filled bench. If the tactic used is to change this round at around the 60-65 minute mark then the flair can finish the game.

Not sure what is wrong with Holroyd, he looks a shadow of the player he was when first arrived.
He reminds me a bit (not in a level of skill sense) of how poor Torres went after his season at Liverpool lit up the football world, he doesnt look like a footballer.
