Yeh
GD is like an extra point because it determines the position when the points are level. Thats the logic.

For me the goals are about killing games off and making them less nervy and also preventing unlucky loss of points with late goals. Another 88th on Sat but didnt cost us.

I wouldn't get het up about goal difference. At this stage it sometimes makes a difference in the table but promotion isn't won in November, 1 big win or 1 bad defeat and it all turns upside down, the important thing is points on the board. I can't remember occasions where goal difference has decided the championship.

Touch wood this isn't a freak season, but we just need to keep winning those points, then onto the next game.

Find a striker and we go up this season I think.

You could well be right but no guarantee and any team wanting to win the league can't rely too much on any one player. Goal scoring strikers are are a funny breed, relying heavily on confidence and teams being set up specifically for them and their team mates doing the hard graft for them.

Is a striker in goal scoring form going to become available in January and if one does, how quickly will they get in the groove.

Salford, Orient or Fylde each have a striker who is probably out of our price range but our lads collectively are doing better and currently we look a better bet, other than Salford's expected recruitment of more quality.

I trust SDR will bring the right player(s) to improve us when he can but with goals coming from other areas now it may well be a different type of striker who can lead the line and clever enough to bring other players into good positions in and around the opponents box.

Just bumping this but also noticed Toby has not been on since November - hope he is ok, and will resurface as we keep going up the table!

Good bump, Rob.

WKed’s post remains as valid as ever.

Instead of concentrating on the weaknesses and ignoring our strengths, let’s all make that extra effort to support BH and the players.

I know things would be more upbeat if only we were in the top three and a couple of points off the top spot, with only 14 games to play. Oh, wait a minute...

Soz, fans generally would be more upbeat if we were thrashing the odd team and looking comfortable on the ball. Scoring more goals would help us to achieve that. I remember in the 60/70s (granted we didn’t win every game) we set out to attack and take the game the game to our opponents.
It’s great that we are in the top three, I am pinching myself. The playoffs look a distinct possibility now, but if we can’t look more fluent in front of goal, it’s all going to end in tears.
