Same was said at Solihull.
I noticed in one of the pictures taken that the pitch looked really narrow.

If you have an inferior quality of players on the pitch then narrowing the pitch makes it a leveller, definitely to Braintree’s advantage.

All in all, a very good result for us.

We’ve always struggled at Braintree. It’s a horrible ground to play at (and to watch football at too!) I remember the 98 point side only grinding out a draw there. A win this time round is a great result.

Third time I've seen the lads this season and by far the poorest performance (other games were at Maidenhead and Eastleigh).

Big Mike seems to have gone off the boil although their defenders were climbing all over him and the ref gave him nothing. His yellow card was stupid and Braintree came out after the break determined to get him sent off. Was talking to some of Mike's mates from his time down south and they said he can over react and be a bit petulant. Nevertheless they seemed convinced he can play at a higher level. Let's hope they're right.

One of our big problems as others have said is in midfield where we lack a general. Young showed glimpses but we showed far mor energy when Ruthers came on. I thought Lawlor did ok but was not particularly impressed with Walker - we missed Akil today in my opinion, although I can see why Sam picked BW today.

Another three points and a seventh clean sheet and an excellent start to the season. this is a game that last season's team would probably have lost so all in all a good result and one of the matches where we usually struggle out of the way.

An official Ipswich Town car went past me on my way to the ground. No idea who he was there to see but if it was Fondop he wouldn’t have been impressed on that performance.

Agree with your opinion on Walker. We were better with Akil in the middle.

Good win. Whilst Braintree are probably one of the weaker teams in the division, it's also worth bearing in mind how far away it is. Not easy to travel that far and get three points. Need to use this as the lift out of the little dip we've had. Judging by Calon's commentary, it was impressive that the team seems to be learning how to see out matches.

Braintree are the anti-football team this time around now that Guiseley have gone down and Barrow (and Solihull vs. everyone except us) decided to play good football, so it's a good win. Hopefully we put them to the sword in the return fixture.

I think Ricketts will have had a word with Fondop and Pyke for their bookings in this game though. The Mixlr/Calon FM commentary made both player's yellows seem extremely avoidable. And I bet Ricketts isn't happy he was forced into an immediate substitution otherwise risk going down to 10 men because Fondop seemed to be losing his cool - even if Braintree were trying to wind him up.
