I agree that yesterday’s team has earned the chance to start at Sutton but it’s unfair and somewhat archaic to say Maguire-Drew is a luxury player. Having lads like Rutherford in the team who’ll run all day for you enables Sam to utilise a bit of flair up front in Maguire-Drew and/or Pyke.
What I will say, however, is he needs to get on the ball more and influence play.
You’d think on artificial pitches, our lads from Premier League academies should be very comfortable on a consistent surface.
Away from home, we'll need to work the channels more to get us up the pitch. I feel that’s better suited to Fondop than Holroyd.
I wonder if Beavon will be a Ormerod type character ie an older head with a bit of quality who’ll run all day for you. Saying that, the Ormerod miss at Wembley still gives me nightmares!
