I don't care what team he puts out, Sam seems to be doing OK whatever team he puts out.

If players all fit you start with the same team, as the only weak link Saturday was Jennings & we don't have another left back to replace him.

Quality of football has improved significantly
Overall squad much stronger - 15 or so players that could make the starting 11

My report would say
Working hard and getting good results
But need to keep the effort up
It’s a marathon and not a sprint as I well know - lol

My reasoning is that if we start with the aim to play football then maybe we can exploit their (hopefully) slower turn of speed at the back and find the gaps to pass it through?

We can always bring Fondop on if we are struggling.
Possibly yeah. I just think Holroyd might be too lightweight but absolutely no issues with him starting, I'm just expecting MFT to start. Then again I wasn't expecting the team last week so who knows, in Sam we trust etc.

I think Holroyd and MFT bring very different skillsets - perhaps the faster surface is better for Holroyd ? Personally I think coming down a peg or two will not harm MFT.

As you say - SR will decide in the end and may surprise us all - perhaps Hinds will start ahead of them both !

Yeah fair point, especially with the expected rain. Hopefully a reality adjustment for MFT and JMD shows they can't continue to coast through games, 100% or effort.

Weird feeling to actually look forward to a starting 11 announcement for once instead of the same 11 expected to start every week!

For the 1st time in years i trust the manager to make the right team selections. Gone seem to be the days of picking players out of pure favourtism and sticking with them and same tactics no matter what the results. Early days but we look like we have found ourselves a really good manager who has no ego and is not scared to shake things up both player wise and tactically. He obviously studies the opposition and plans accordingly .Its great he is so versatile and Sam seems better tactically already than previous managers we have had since being in this horrible league .

I think you are right but it is also combined with him learning 'on the job' as it were. I agree that his planning is meticulous but if a player blows hot and cold on any given day its tough for a manager. The great news is he is for sure not afraid to change tactically and personnel wise - which for me is a very good trait.

Its actually so refreshing to be debating the reasons for leaving out the top scorer, National league player of the month and other players that have scored/assisted because of the performances of the players that have come in and replaced them.

Is there a right/wrong when we have players that have to up their game to be getting a starting place and players dropping to the bench when they are not delivering. Its just upped the ante and the stakes so much in terms of expectation and performance now.

Sam may not get it right every time he shuffles the pack and we have a series of tough games ahead but I think we have seen the improvement in quality that a lot of fans knew we needed and an acceptance that we have tolerated average players for far too long.

A win on Saturday will be massive at this point.
