Is it? What do you base this on? Or do you have proof? For a start off his BTB can't be as high as the one Keates had, but most of Ricketts signings are loan signings also a lot of permanent ones were signed on 2 yr deals by Keates who was regarded to have a bigger budget than previous managers, unless that's wrong.

I think there is no doubt about it, we can expect squad strengthening in January. I just don't know where.

I'd love to see Beavon get a one and a half year deal. I think that's the easiest way to overcome the loanee overload. I'm sad to say it (because I like Wright), but to really push on I think we need a better holding midfielder. Someone who can pass better, but still break legs. That would really give us a better platform.

This is the season I feel it, so, not to go all out for it would be criminal.
I'm fascinated by the number of people who assume we can just go out and buy a prolific striker as if we were buying a tin of beans. We've bought (or borrowed) plenty of strikers -they just haven't scored many goals . And that's the way it is. Like managers, a striker who performs brilliantly in one situation is not guaranteed to do the same again somewhere else. The best we can get, Ward money, large crowds and concerts notwithstanding, are blokes who may have a future and blokes who have a past. Guaranteed strikers don't exist, especially at our level. SR may well go out and buy a striker in January but he will be no more certain to score goals than Fondop or Beavon or anybody we already have here.

Excellent post if any striker is available in January it will be because he ain't performing at the club he is at, quality strikers are snapped up in the Summer, any manager will say January isn't a good time to sign players and those made available cost more.

I remember some shouting sign Cheek... Well he ain't done nothing this season,

I guess players like Quigley/Oswell wont be available in Jan.
Same with Udoh.

I am fascinated by those that think we cannot improve in Jan.
Lack of improvement was Morrels undoing - not bad luck or poor treatment.

Football is a harsh game and so is standing still.

If you go through the squad as is now compared to previous it's quite easy to see. Mostly lads from league clubs coming down rather than lesser clubs coming up. Even then the likes of Young hasn't moved up here for buttons has he??

I think people are on the same page, we all expect SDR to want to strengthen key areas, but there are no guarantees. I know these are only examples; Quiggs or Oswell have a tad more pedigree than MFT and Pyke but are they going to fire us to promotion. It may take a couple of months to rebuild some confidence and get them at it. Quigs hit the ground running last time but after last season there will be far more expectation to hit that early form if he returns. MFT and Pyke are WiP but both have shown enough potential to be better.

Ok I hear what people are saying about my Veiws, so you all want to go to May with the present set of players and think that will be enough.
