Reading too much into it. Fondop is a striker and strikers naturally want to be scoring goals, whether its from open play, penalties etc.
He will likely be as concerned about his lack of form as we are so will try and get every opportunity to get back on the goal scoring trail.
Once one goes in, I'm sure he will get more..

Its noticeable that when he scores Fondop is least enthusiastic to run over to congratulate him.

Glad Summerfield did make it clear that he is the designated Penalty taker, I wouldn't trust Fondop to score from twelve yards right now.
