Harrogate and the other "Plastic" teams do gain an advantage with their pitch and the way they adapt to it.
I also thought how bizarre the amount of water they sprinkled onto the pitch pre kick off and at half time. Made me wonder if they were trying to get a footwear advantage of some sort? I know my memory is shocking but don't remember sprinklers being used for the recent league game.

Watering a plastic pitch?

I think you are right - trying to gain a footwear advantage..

Have you ever played on a dry 3/4 g pitch? The ball stays under your feet. It’s bloody horrible.

Odd game at Harrogate.
Felt like neither team had the will to commit to winning the game and the draw was probably fair and inevitable.
We only really looked to be putting in a real attacking effort in the last 10 minutes.
Be interesting to see how we line up on Tuesday as it looks like Walker will have to play alongside Pearson. With one defensive midfielder we should at least pose a more attacking threat.
Plastic pitches are an abomination and should be scrapped at this level.

We did a decent job of countering their route one game but sacrificed our attacking option to do it.
The whole game was played at a slower pace than the league game and was in the end pretty boring.
Just hope we can get a decent home draw on Monday and turn on a proper performance and win on Tuesday night.
Saturday is looking interesting now after Chesterfield put Fylde to the sword yesterday.
Harrogate have got a better record away than at home. The supposed advantage has never seemed to extend to Maidstone who haven't got near the top of the table. Sutton only made a supposed advantage count when they banked a load of cup money. People really do need to look past the myths.

The plastic pitch is keeping Maidstone in this league. They would have been relegated without it.

Christ it isn't that long since they won here. Pitches like the one Braintree operated on for years are a bigger leveller.

Yes, that is true. They won a fixture on grass 18 months ago. My assertion still stands - I believe they would be playing NLS or below if it wasn't for their pitch.

The same people who complain about only 1 stand open will complain if three stands are open and there is a poor attendance. There will probably be more at Chesterfield than the Harrogate replay.
