Re: Weston FA Cup game now 12:45 Sunday 11th Nov
FC United tried blocking their game with then League 1 side Chesterfield from being moved to a Monday evening a couple of years back. It seems like teams have no choice
“The FA has responded this morning to inform us that they insist on the game being moved according to rule 2 and 8.13 in the FA Cup competition rules and therefore we have no option but to hold the match on the Monday evening at 7.45pm. We are deeply disappointed by the FA’s stance and have made them aware of this." https://www.theguardian.com/football...up-kick-off-tv |

Re: Weston FA Cup game now 12:45 Sunday 11th Nov
Not a supporter of ANY football being played on Remembrance Sunday - especially this year of all years (1918 one hundred years on).
It generates decisions in many people's lives who would wish to be at two or more places but simply can't. If that is the issue then if all groups made their feelings known collectively then something might change - however clubs wont and life will continue. The same could be said about changing days & kick off times in general for all other weeks of the year - TV rights play such a massive role in when our football is played. When you look at some of the fixtures so affected - a southern based team having to play opposition in the north of England to cater for TV, say at 5.00 pm on a Sunday and vice versa causing massive issues for travelling away supporters it's completely clear that consideration for away fans is well down on the list. Out of interest can anyone remember when these big game changes were introduced ? seems to be the norm now - today we have 3 staggered Premier league matches at staggered times - for no other reason than to fit in with TV. |

Irrespective of the rights and wrongs of the decision to move the game to the Sunday, I'll be there with a car full.
We will arrive fairly early and at the 11th hour will take the time to pay our respects or join the local remembrance event as I'm sure others will. |

Whether you like it or not at least research the answer before you put posts up slagging the club off. I am as pi$$ed off as anyone because it's a Sunday as I had literally booked a hotel. I will just have to suck it up and go now, but driving home late on Sunday is going to be a right pain in the arse. |

Even if 25 stay over, that's £500 per head. What sort of hotels are we using? |

Re: Weston FA Cup game now 12:45 Sunday 11th Nov
Whilst I understand the not playing football on that day as we all want to pay our respects. Is it any different than for the thousands of people who have to work on that Sunday like every Sunday who can't attend their local Cenotaph at that time?
The biggest bug bear is for those who have to travel so far for the kick off at such a bad time of day, if the game was at home this thread wouldn't be here. Posted via mobile theme |

Re: Weston FA Cup game now 12:45 Sunday 11th Nov
I am so sad that football gets pushed around by TV companies and Media organisations. Meddling with this fixture is clearly not right. I could go to this game, but I have decided not to.
The prospect of standing up, next to those drunken fools who get attracted to the WAFC when we are winning, has dampened any enthusiasm I had. I will make an afford to attend a cenotaph type service instead. |
