January will take care of itself, ( Keep it quiet bur we have money and no doubt SDR will look to strengthen). It's about the here and now. It's not a case of hanging in there and the Gateshead game is an opportunity to get things going again and remember we will be over half way and played out a double header with Salford before January.

We half expected a negative reaction to the Chesterfield result/performance and we got it but doesn't mean we can't get a positive performance on Saturday. You can't really win against 10 men, folks were saying boost our goal difference at half time but how often do 10 men lose their fear of losing and put that bit extra in. We have to give them credit, they continued with a high press and we had no one with any real composure on the ball to pick them off with simple passing.

He's a phenomenal captain and his defensive work is spot on, but he really needs to listen to Ricketts on this one.
Its hard to criticise our defence when you look at our record don't you think ? is it not up to the deep midfielders to push up when in pos ession

Can't add much to this as I wasn't there but looking at it purely based on points and league position I would say we are still over achieving given the comparative quality of our squad on paper and the fact we have a rookie manager so I'm still clapping happily here in Sussex! Coming up for my 1st home match of the season on Saturday so hopefully the performance improves!

The way I see it is those that were there aren’t quite as happy of just getting 3 points whereas those that weren’t there are thinking ‘what more do you want’.

Second half was terrible but if JMD scored just before HT would of been a different game imo

We are not functioning as a team - we are lacking the basics - repeatedly not supporting the man in possession - nobody is moving into a space to give the man in possession any option to play a ball other than to hoof or head it aimlessly anywhere - and so it comes back again and again - yet we seem quite happy for this to happen with no sense of urgency - never take a man on in the final third, more content to stop, backtrack and go backwards even as far as Lainton and when all other options are used up he hoofs it upfield.

I have to say, from an entertainment value that was shocking, boring and wont pull the casual floating fans back for more on Saturday.
Even with 10 men they showed more desire to play the ball and moved it around the field far better than us - we can't just sit back and absorb pressure - it wont always work.
This playing the ball back and not over committing is about retaining possession rather than trying to kill teams off. I completely agree that at times our midfield looks over run especially when Summerfield isn't playing. The biggest thing that frustrates me with it is that we tend to just defend our own half rather than press the ball higher up the pitch. Therefore when we do win the ball there are fewer options further forward and a lot of men behind the ball. Having said that I would still say that the majority if games I have seen this season we have had a significant number of clear cut chances than last season, most of which have fallen to our front 3.

Kysolo would be a brilliant signing, be hard pressed to find better at this level

Do we take another Gamble on a striker lime Udoh or do we trying and go for someone with more experience? I personally would like more experience.

Aye; Shame really because up to the sending off I thought it was a very decent game of football. Listening to the scores around the grounds of our rivals whilst watching that second half of 'football' was all a bit surreal.

I suppose the bottom line is that's four from six which this time last week would have more than acceptable with these fixtures, but they are two games which for me have posed far more questions than answers, which given the league table seems a bizarre thing to say.
