Truly awful performance and ratings should match IMO.
Harsh on young. Was fortunate for the goal but earned that good fortune with a great attacking run from the halfway line and powerful strike.

Let me flip this.. we batter a side to a pulp and lose 1-0. Are you happy ?

I understand what you are saying.. honesty I think sometimes we forget that we are in a poor league with full or poor teams.. the reason most of these players are here is because they consistently can’t do the basics which seem so easy.

So bloody frustrating , completely get it , but a slight overreaction tonight ..

Hey ho ..we are top of the league and a trip to Phuket is here .. 😊

Phuket is how I felt 2nd half as did the players.
Ratings wise as per the thread was poor and for me its down to basics.
Its obvious the most consistent performers over 90 mins do the basics right.
This is why Lainton and the back 4 are being given 7s and most of the rest 6s apart from Young for his goal.

I guess a win masks all the inadequacies but long term it wont.
How were 2nd is unbelievably pleasing.

If Redpassion still gave "likes" you'd get one for that reply .

Pretty much agree on your assessment too.

Lainton - 7: MOTM probably by default for me. Made some decent saves and obviously can't be blamed for the lack of outfield ambition.
Roberts - 6: Wasn't bad. Part of a defence that had to work hard to earn the three points tonight.
Pearson - 6: Same as above, although made an error or two early on.
Lawlor - 6: Did his defensive duties well, missed a sitter in the second half.
Jennings - 7: Though he was our best outfield player today. Actually tried to beat his man and deliver a cross.
Wright - 5: Not his best game, but made a few tackles.
Walker - 5: Worst I've seen him, wasn't shocked when he went off.
Young - 6: Sponsor's MOTM. Got the goal, but other than that didn't make things happen.
Maguire-Drew - 4: Ineffective.
Pyke - 4: Might as well have not played.
Beavon - 5: Suppose he wound up Davies to the point of fury and got him sent off. Other than that mostly ineffective.

SUBS:
Fondop - 4: Other than his turn on the halfway line and the neat backheel right before the final whistle, did nothing. Got one on one from his turn and fluffed his lines.
Rutherford - N/A: Not on for long enough.
Deverdics - N/A: Same as Rutherford.

Overall, it was a repeat of the Chesterfield game minus the last minute equalizer. I think Ricketts won't be happy with the performance despite being happy with the result.
I agree with all but Beavon who I believe you are harsh on. Beavon is a thinking mans striker who needs young willing legs around him and last night he did not have that as both pyke and MD had real off nights. How Beavon times his jump is amazing as at one stage he outjumped the headbutter who was a good foot taller than him !

Lainton (7) Some poor distribution but kept a clean sheet.

Roberts (8) My MOTM.

Lawlor (7) Mostly sound.

Pearson (6) Good in the air but poor on the ground. Lacks pace and struggled against their No 10.

Jennings (5) Worth a (6) when going forward but defensively weak (4).

Young (6) Good goal and best of a poor midfield.

Wright (5) Some good bursts forward but always drags his shots wide. Poor positional play.

Walker (5) Seemed to be in a trance in the second-half.

Pyke (3) No apparent effort.

Beavon (6) Best of a very poor forward-line.

Maguire-Drew (4) Offered very little.

Subs:

Fondop-Talom (0) Donkey with the touch of an elephant. Think he is now suspended after a stupid Yellow.

Rutherford & Deverdics (NR)

That was a truly awful performance against a better team who should have beaten us. We won - which is good - and are second in the league - which is great - but we are not looking like a team capable of winning the title.

SDR needs to change a few faces and hope we can remain in the hunt until January when we will need to strengthen; we need a proven striker; a midfield general to play alongside Young and Summerfield; a winger to offer width and pace; and a LB to solidify the defence.

Go with these..............Comments on JJ interesting. Agree that he does like to go forward but loses concentration when defending. Poss Carra at left back and try JJ on left hand side of mid, or too risky??

Not a fan of Jennings but I would play him further forward if Carrington is fit.

Hinds surely deserves a start.

Agreed,
If you want to win the lottery you have to buy a ticket. More of our midfielders should try it.
