Be very bold of Ricketts to change the formation given how well we’re doing, but it’s certainly an option, which is what a squad of good players gives you.
Rickets has always had the option for 3 at the back by utilising Doug Tharme more. The youngster has not let himself, or the team, down whenever he has been on the pitch and can be proud of what he has achieved so far his season.
He could learn a lot from playing alongside Smith, Lawlor and Pearson and if we wish to keep him, we need to show him that he will get the chance to play here.

This.

I'm sure we all have fond memories of 352 but that's all they will ever be.

On what I have seen of Lawlor I don't see how he can be dropped.

There is something unpalatable on the horizon. We needed an extra centre back and got one who is performing well. There are two very good centre backs also at the club with contracts ticking down. It’s not unreasonable to suggest that they are taking a big cut of the budget when you look at the club’s inability to fund forwards. People have whispered about interest in Manny and Pearson and the latter has talked about contracts in the press, never a good one. If both are here in August I’ll eat my hat and a spell on the bench for either could hasten a departure.

Interesting discussion here, for me Lawlor is a very strong signing but Manny is one of the best in the league so it's a tough call.
However, what strikes me is that we're all discussing the best CB pairing, and it is hugely important. But what about the front 3, which changes at random, virtually every game? Would Ricketts not be better deciding on who are the best options (and not many make a strong case for me) and giving time to gel as it is becoming a real problem.

Correct we need pacy wingbacks who can beat a defender and get a cross in for that.

I agree I've been saying this Sam doesn't know his best 11 yet although defense wise I suppose he does but midfield and especially upfront no
