Lainton (7) very dependable.

Roberts (6) Struggled at times but kept at it.

Lawlor (7) Again, very dependable.

Pearson (8) Very strong in the air but again warned by the ref about his lip.

Jennings (6) Mixed bag. His positional play lets him down when defending.

Walker (6) Took his goal well but seems to struggle to last 90 mins. Like Wright, I am not yet 100% convinced he’s good enough.

Summerfield (8) Controlled the midfield, which allowed Young more time and space to do his stuff. My MOTM.

Young (8) Never stopped running to close them down and make space.

Beavon (7) He is a wise head and put Holroyd to shame.

Holroyd (5) Weak, slow and poor movement. He didn’t impress me.

Rutherford (8) He May not have Maguire-Drew’s ability but he makes up for it with tenacious effort.

Subs:

Pyke (5) A goal’s a goal but he is so lethargic. Needs a rocket up his arse and he could be a good player.

Wright (4) Switched off for their goal.

Deverdics (4) Not convinced.

Eh? This comment was a response. Read another of my posts on this thread, and I've said a bit more about the game. In fact, about how 'dominant' we were today. Go on, read it.

Ratings based on 5 being average.

Lainton 6- Quiet day for him. Did all that he could for the goal.

Roberts 5 - The weakest link for me. Some of his ball retention and passing were very poor.

Lawlor 8 - Showing why Sam signed him. Dominant today and has really settled into the team.

Pearson 8 - Untrouble and rock solid.

Jennings 6 - Ok, made some strange decisions with his runs going forward.

Walker 6 - Great header to score and looked really assured on the ball at times. However, some of his passing is sloppy.

Summerfield 8.5 - Great performance and showed why we need him to say injury free. Bags of energy and great awareness, always looking at what's around him.

Young 7 - Good energy, a busy performance even if not stand out.

Holroyd 6- Plenty of running and effort but didn't look overly dangerous.

Beavon 7.5 - Has to play every game. An intelligent player and brings others into the game well.

Rutherford 8.5 - 2 assists and always on the front foot. He will play a really important part in our promotion bid.

Beavon should be the first choice forward, he always puts in a good display and affects the game. Most consistent one of the lot of them. We really need that star striker though.
