I’d imagine Leo Smith is better than many of Llandudno’s players technically but when it comes to actually playing 90 mins of football on a Saturday afternoon, a lad who’s been doing it for 10 years plus is often better equipped. From our position, we can’t afford for lads to be using us just for experience. Maguire-Drew should be better than that anyway as he’s already had a season at this level and games in the league above. It’s all well and good being a technically good place. However, you need to learn how to put it into use in games and affect the final result. |

Holroyd's made a career here of looking neat and tidy at home when we're expected to take the game to our opponents and then completely disappearing in every away game he's played in that wasn't Tranmere last season.

Performances have dropped and maybe he hasnt got over that injury. Sam has used him sparingly up to now. If he could recapture some form it would be like a new player at this point. Its up to him now to perform and win a place. |

Re: BHS - Beavon ,Holroyd , Summerfield
I watched Manchester City totally dismantle Southampton - the ball was played around with high tempo and intensity - and hardly went above knee height - it was highlighted that the City players were all moderately small in height - did we see a similar scenario by Wrexham against Gateshead ?
What are our strengths and what style of play suits us best ? We look far, far better when players get the ball down and play football, quick, sleak passing and some pace - the one thing that can unlock the best defences. We have plenty of players who are prepared to chase and harry when not in possession or did on Saturday - Rutherford and Beavon especially but add Holroyd, Young and Summerfield - Jennings particularly provides a good additional outlet up the left flank. Perhaps the two players who don't cover the same amount of ground with the same level of energy were those left out - JMD & Fondop. It would be highly interesting to see the distances each player covers in a match - Rutherford in particular gets through an astronomical amount of work - he seems better prepared to deal with it this season - last season he would wear himself out by the hour mark. Additionally, some players more than most need a decent run in the team, a number of games to build up match fitness and hopefully understanding - far better to play alongside the same team mates for a duration than continually changing - it could be argued now that, with just one game a week for the foreseeable (bar a cup replay) the need for rotation diminishes - however Ricketts also has the task of keeping everybody feeling loved and involved. Team selection as always will be interesting next Saturday. |

Re: BHS - Beavon ,Holroyd , Summerfield
Holroyd was the weakest link in our starting xi on Saturday. I’m not sure he’s really a fit in this team. We need more of a focal point at the centre of our front three. Fondop seemed like the best equipped to do that in the current squad, but his performances since the first month of the season have not been good.
We need a quality, experienced centre forward in January. Posted via mobile theme |
